No one can even have an incredibly bad day any more without his or her misfortune being plastered all over the web.

Anyway, that sucks for somebody....

Maybe he liked the car he already had! I guess folks that change cars every 6 months have a different perspective on these things than I do. Personally I wouldn't be pleased to see my car going up in flames, regardless of what the eventual outcome would be down the road, and would consider it a negative, but TEHO.

I agree with Mike AND I change cars every 6 months. I certainly would not like to have my current TTS go up in flames and have to get another one.

My guess is a botched oil change job. I have pics of one that lit up about a year ago here in Dallas for that reason. That's when I learned where the oil filter is stupidly located.

It's not like this guy will get 100% of the purchase price back on the car unless he had a caveat for it in the insurance for the car; something like Liberty Mutual's complete car replacement or something similar. Unfortunately Insurance companies are in business to make money but they will fight tooth and nail to try to give their customer's as little as possible.

AC, I didn't mean to get personal about the new car every 6 months (it's not my thing but more power to anyone who can do it) nor was I questioning anyone's love of their car. And I get the philosophical "things could be worse" approach. Still, it would be a long time before I could see any positives in a Porsche flambe' if it were my Porsche, and seeing pics of the event on the web sure wouldn't make me feel any better.

Just making chatter here, no hard feelings.
