Default San Francisco and the GT3

The family and I were in San Fran today and as we drove around the thought of owning a GT3 seemed like possibly a bad idea with the poor conditions of the roads - some of the turns by the curbs had such big dips that I nearly bottomed out the 550. Goodness knows what it would have done to the GT3? Parking in the lots would be a nightmare as well and some of the elevation changes on the roads made me wonder if you'd trash the front lip?

I know a few San Fran Rennlisters live there - is it as difficult a car to live with as I thought it might be today? I guess the lift must be the first option you checked?

Own a new 550 and a 14 GT3 - I have managed with GT3 but lift is critical and avoiding some of the steeper streets is a must.

I don't live there but I've driven in San Francisco a lot. I wouldn't be too comfortable driving my GT3 there for many reasons, not least the roads.

I work in SF and sometimes will drive my 08 Mercedes Benz CLK Black Series, I know which areas to avoid and barley clear the front spoiler when leaving the my office garage. Knowing this city, I would never drive my 97 993 Turbo but if I did have a GT3 with the lift option, I would drive into the city with confidence in being able to access in and out of certain under ground parking lots.

You just gotta be careful with inclines. . Other than that any gt3 on street blows on the street. Boring. Mike

I live in SF. Lift is a must. The ride on our bumpy streets is miserable. Not a daily driver. Huge giggle factor listening to the Sharkwerks exhaust note bounce between homes and buildings.

Used to drive my track-prepped, lowered 996 GT3 in the city. No biggie. More concerned about the oblivious, self-righteous pedestrians and cyclists (and I am a biker!) than the crummy roads. Many driveways are unnavigable due to the approach angle.

Oh, and, absolutely no valet!

I busted 2 clowns Ferris Buellering my car and trying to take pics as they were revving it up to fly out the door of the garage in North Beach.

I'm so friggin anxious about this part.. Live on one of the steeper streets, my garage issues are sadly well documented. Just getting to bay bridge there is a section of potholed road so bad that I tiptoe around the holes with my 535xi.. I would stop traffic in an intersection with gt4.

Worst case... Anyone living outside the city care to store a gt4 in their extra garage spaces? I guess I would provide compensation or driving privileges?

Word of advise...live in Marin and drive your GT3 there...get a beater and use that for the city if you have to.

I'd be happy to "store" your GT4. Might be a bit far though. I'm in Wisconsin. I promise to exercise it regularly for you though.

I'm rearranging the vehicles for GT3 delivery so should be down to 2 cars and 3 bikes so will have room for a GT4 My eldest turns 15.5 in a couple of months so I can tell her I bought her a little practice car!!

I live in SOMA. GT3 only for weekend drives outside the city. have yet to take it anywhere else in city-- I use a beater car for that. You just cannot enjoy the GT3 in the city, it's mainly if you want to pose driving in it.

Ok, I live in telegraph hill. as a fellow Ducati rider I would actually consider considering the offer if it were real... I keep your 1199 hostage, parked next to my 3 Ducs, and you keep the gt4 parked haha... Mutually assured destruction

Regardless, let's go for a ride sometime.. There is also a SF Ducati rider group on FB if you're interested in meeting other riders
