A little much for me.

I have looked at Mclaren many times, but I could never pull the trigger. They have no regards for current owners. Their pre own warranty program was a mess, it was unclear if it would be possible to extended warranty (who would want to buy a used supercar with no warranty?)
Then they have like a 2 year revision cycle and it's getting shorter.
The 12c was are 2012 model year, then the 650S was a 2014 model year. Now the 675S is a 2015 model year.
I agree Porsche is doing the same thing. But at least it's positioned differently. The 991 S focus on a different market than the 991 GT3 for example. So that the 991 S doesn't feel obsolete when the GT3 comes out.
But with mclaren, the 12C felt outdated and obsolete when the 650S came out.
Is it so essentially to change the exterior so much? Look at the GTR, it has got a whole lot faster and better over the years from 2009-2015, but the exterior is only slightly updated.

I got close to putting a deposit on one of these, but decided against it.
My local dealer sold their allocation (11 I recall) in about 5 hours, only 500 of them globally. I still think McLaren is too much of a resale gamble for me to want to jump in.

Don't buy them new. I waited a long time to find the right one and pulled the trigger. It's phenomenal. I hated turbos and now I have 3 of them lol. From my experience the McLaren is way better on track than my 458 was. So rigid, no body roll, and tons of power on exit. The 458 was fun to drive, on edge, but had too much roll and my lap times were slower than the McLaren. On street tires, my 12C spider is almost 3 seconds faster at MSR than my track prepped GT3 RS was. With Hoosiers on RS, they are almost equal (have not tried slicks or R compound tires on McLaren yet). I'm looking forward to my 991 GT3 (?RS) to take over track duty again in a naturally aspirated style!
Seriously, if you're on the fence with McLaren get a used one. I love my spider. No performance loss in a convertible. Their warranty is extendable if needed. I have a local dealer so it is easy to service the car or drop by if you have questions.

i dont think the 12c became obselete when the 650s arrived, i actually think it became the best bargain supercar out there, and take us car nuts out of it, 99.9999999999999999999% of the world can not tell the difference between the 12c and the 650s. especially if youre not looking at the front.
a 2012 with a msrp of 290 can now be acquired for 175 with no miles, not bad..........oh and the 12c is still one of the fastest cars on the road.
i still went with a Gt3 for what its worth

McLaren warranty is fantastic. If anything is wrong with the car and you are within 200 miles of a dealer, they come flat bed it for free.

Most Mac dealers are begging to get off their lots (650's to the tune of $80K discounts). UK has a warehouse full of these ready to ship with NO buyers.
Obviously the 675 is different, but seriously doubt people are jumping on board. To sell 11 Macs of ANY flavor in US in 5 hours would be unheard of...there is NOT the demand for these cars...trust me.

That is surprising.
