Default Reducing consumables cost? (tires/pads/rotors -> GT3 and future GT4 owners)

Considering rotors, pads, and tires, after a little research I've found that: (updated with longer lasting rear rotors/pads)

pads = about $950 a set, PFC, last 5-8 days? If fronts last 7 and rears 14 then the cost per day is:
102/day

oem rotors = $3200 a set, last 16 days front, 32 rear
150/day

tires $2112 (tirerack) last 7 days
302/day

The per track day costs are $554!

It seems that there exist 18 inch wheels that barely fit over the brakes. In that case, Nitto NT-01 tires could used instead for $1200 a set, bringing the per day tire cost to $150. (19 inch wheels also have more tire availability)

The racing brake rotor replacements seem to be about $1700 a set once you buy their centers. Then the rotor per day cost goes down to $80

With those rotor and tire choices, the cost is 332/day. Is it possible to do better?

It seems the cost for tires/pads/rotors for a 2004 GT3 is 250/day, partly because of a lighter, less powerful car, and partly due to the availability of much cheaper 1 piece rotors ($120 a disc in the front!).

Are the 991s really that bad on rear pads and rotors? At least with the 996, I hear you can double the days on rear pads and rotors

That's a good question, I'd imagine the rears do last longer, but I'll wait for owners to chime in. I know with the 997 GT3 that the bias was changed a bit compared to the 996 and the rears started being used more.

If the rears do last much longer, costs could be off by $50-75 on the high end, but there still seems to be a lot of room to make it cheaper.

Rear pads last twice as long and rear rotors at least 2-3 times as long as fronts.

Never add up the receipts.

These cars are fast, and will wear on consumables faster. You're also forgetting to add in inspections, nut/bolt checks, replacement of bearings, hub assemblies, etc that need to be considered for heavy track use. You also forgot brake flushes, fuel... it's a long list.

Like I said, never add up the receipts.

I hope to get 7 days out of the MPSC2s, but I barely got 5 out of the MPSC and R888s.

Its a 1000 a day. But just don't add it up and you'll forget soon enough.

Sorry, but replacing your oil every other track weekend (if a serious comment) is just a waste of oil.

Never a good idea to keep track/add up costs with tracking.

Right.

I merely meant to isolate some costs that we might have some control over. And then ignore the others!

Seriously though, it's interesting what costs more on the later cars. Hubs were mentioned above. But perhaps the GT4 hubs will last longer because they aren't centerlocks? I wonder what else is a wear item.
