Radar Detectors

Giving the laser gun an error is a bad thing... that's how they can tell you're jamming. The best hammers simply don't let the gun get a valid speed but don't report an error.

I have done loads of research and will feel that the following is the best route for an installed system:
- Bell StiR Plus radar
- AI Priority laser shifter
AI Priority is the only laser system that covers the latest guns and is software upgradable for new guns as they come out. Supposedly, Laser Interceptor is coming out with a similar system but I have not heard much about it yet.

I've been running the STiR+ and Laser Interceptor system for 3 years with great results.

If I were going to install a radar detector it would be the Escort 9500ci.

Have no experience with any of them, just from reading reviews/tests, looking at accuracy of detection, falls alerts ect. Soon I will have the StiR installed in my car though.

From my research the last few weeks, the bell stiR + does appear to be the best, followed by the passport 9500ci and a distant third the valentine. The price is lower on the bell than the passport, partly because its not including the laser shifters, which are not considered very good on the passport anyway.

The lower price of the Bell versus the Escort reflects the difference in laser jammers.

This is what made Laser Interceptors the king of the jammers until the more recent AL Priority jammers came out.

The Passport Escort 9500ci and the Bell Sti-R are nearly identical (except for the Ka feature). In fact Bell is a subsidiary of Passport.

If you don't mind missing the location-based false alert lock-out feature of the STiR+, you can buy the AL Priority jammers and an interface module to integrate the STiR+ antenna for radar detection. You'll have the same sensitivity then as the STiR+, but only one "brain" system to install, in exchange for no location-based fall alert lock-out (which is a bit useful, honestly). I suspect AL Priority will get around to introducing a location-based lock-out one day.
