Default Got my GT3 two days ago and have Headlight question

Well based on everything I read about delamination, I have decided to not put Xpel on my LED headlights. So I have to ask the question, If my lens gets pitted, do I have to buy a whole LED assembly or just a lens?

Also attached is a not so good pic of the car. Its in the garage until it stops raining here in seattle.

Good question.

I was thinking of even putting just blue tape while I'm on the track to protect the lenses, but it just looks so dorky, lol.

I had the same concern but ended up having them skinned with Suntek. My understanding is that they can take a beating, even on the street. Maybe others can confirm this.

bummer. I guess my concern is even if I xpel them and get no delamination, if I ever have to redo it could pull the UV film off then....I guess there is no perfect answer on this one.

What's the issue with delamination? I figured since mine is going to be a track car, the pitting would have occurred sooner than any yellowing of the film so it's worth it.

I have Xpel on mine and I am very happy. I do not buy this delamination stuff. I need to see more evidence. Maybe poor film or bad installation may be the factor

Porsche headlights are sprayed/coated with a UV clear coat. The problem has been that when removing the PPF it brings up pieces of the clear coat with it some times upon removal.

Once the clear is "delaminated" from the head lamp, it's shot. It comes up as bits and pieces that come off with the film.

This doesn't always happen, but very high risk. Film needs to be heated/steamed to take it off which contributes to the issue as does trying to pull film off without heat. The longer film stays on, the harder it is to remove.

Xpel has the most adhesive out of all the brands.

With that being said, if you guys don't hold onto cars for long or never plan on having to replace the film which should be done every 5yrs at the most then there is nothing to worry about until the next guy gets it.
