That's my point...

I think you should be getting a 10% discount off 14s at least otherwise buy a 15. That's what I did, there are enough 15s sitting on lots that msrp shouldn't be an issue.

It is january and will probably get tougher as inventory dwindles and spring approaches.

Maybe I'm wrong, from what I can tell there are no title issues here. This doesn't seem to be one of the "buy back " cars sold at the Porsche auction. This was a customer who returned it back to the dealer. With 35 miles didn't even take delivery. This essentially a new 2014. Should be an getting the extended warranty. I can't imagine any dealer giving discounts. They will sell over MSRP for now. When some come in as trade in for an RS, then they will sell at MSRP or for a minimal discount.

The dealer I purchased my 15 also had a 14 for not much less and with similar options. They were also offering an extra year warranty. I am sure the engine in the 14 I looked at is fine but I wasn't comfortable and decided to get the 15 which was at MSRP anyway.

The carfax report also doesn't show as a buyback/lemon

Well, this is really a tough one. I think if you like the specs and the title is not tainted than go for it. Also, I do not know your financial position because that would also be a factor.

Or - you can stay in touch with this forum and when the RS comes out you can buy one from some one on here and get a very good used 2014/15 with low mileage at what ever the market will bare at the time.

Or - I do not know is Nick has sold his white 2014 with 1500 miles but that may also be an option because you know it has been babied and its history

Thanks everybody for such quick input.
Also thanks Gleek 48 for the carfax report.
Checking with my state regarding the title tomorrow.
Then if things look ok, a road trip to drive the car.

If there is not a title issue anything close to MSRP is reasonable in my opinion. The extra year of warranty is a nice bonus. Good luck.

Just be aware that sometimes carfax can delay reporting for months.

Can't speak for your car, however titles in Texas will say 'buyback' (there is an actual term I can't remember they use on it), so no matter what CarFax says--the actual title will clearly disclose that information.

No matter if you get the '14 or '15 you're going to LOVE it!

Most of the feedback on cars going above MSRP is coming from dealers - who have more cars still incoming.

You've seen fellow RL members already trying to sell their cars at small discounts ($5k etc) to MSRP.

It's your money John, but I wouldn't touch it for MSRP.

I think this is a pretty simplified view, how many do you think are spec'd at $135k msrp? Take a look at the rennlist thread on the topic.

So assume a $145k is average base, based on my estimate would sell for $125k to $135k in 3 to 6 months.

Would you rather spend $100k on a brand new GT4, $135k on a used GT3 (which potentially needs new rotors, tires etc depending on track history) or try to find an RS slot as per usual a lot of people will back out or buy it and want to get out due to the more hardcore nature of the car. There will be a lot of choices in that timeframe which will impact values.

This is before you even factor in the other choices from other brands that are coming to the market.
