Default Muffling sound at 4K+ rpm

I have decided to post this wondering if any of you experiencing this. I have been hearing on and off a muffling sound (pohmmmm...) when I push over 4K rpm. It's like when you try to make the hmmmm sound with your mouth closed.

Sometimes it happens at 4.2K and sometimes 5K+. It doesn't happen all the time as it comes and goes. The sport exhaust is fine as I can hear the flap opens or closes. The car didn't make that noise while I was at the dealer and the service manager was guessing it was just a resonance noise. But sure it was irritating. I tried to record it but the microphone couldn't pick it up.

Just curious if any of you experience this? Thanks.

I immediately noticed the same, droning. Very irritating.Did not have it in my '06 nor '09. I eliminated the problem by installing the SharkWerks center muffler bypass.

So you have the same issue at 4K+ at 4th or 5th gear and this sound is the legendary droning?

At about 4200 my car has the same issue. It doesn't matter if the sport exhaust is on or off. Reminds me of an old BB exhaust. My 10 GT3 did not have this issue. Of course this is not a Mezger.

Is this normal? Or it's just a byproduct of the current exhaust?

It comes and goes. Sometimes it happens and sometimes not. It just irritates the heck out of me. I am ok with the engine vibrating sounds but this one even my 9 yrs old was complaining.

What do you by mean that it is not a Mezger? That The 9a1 is a lesser engine? Would you swap your current engine for a Mezger? Trying to understand.

Ok, just a statement of fact. I get it. As a in lawyer friend says in their parlance a difference without a distinction. Every engine/ exhaust combo has their own particular sounds.

It is an emotional issue with some people.

I used to enjoy the mufling sound till my dealer understood one of the possible issue.

1) there is a risk of one of the exhaust valve is not opening due to disconnection of the flexible rubber.
2) there is a possibility of porosity on one of the flexible rubber.

in any case, the flexible rubber located on the left side has a poor routing and has already been replaced many times for my car in 7300kms. especially, the next day after a track session

Thanks for posting the connection issue. I find it hard to believe that the car would sound the way it does. As it sits I would find zero enjoyment running it beyond 5000 rpm's.

I'll check with my dealer Monday.

I went to my dealer twice but both didn't happen. Hope you have better luck. Btw, yesterday it happened even at 3800 rpm but then it went away later. "Buoooollllllllll. Buoooollllllll....!!!!!!! Ugh
