Default 991 GT3 vs. the triumphant 991 TTS?

En route to the Concours d'Ialia, in Monterrey CA, Sept, 2014, with 15 exotics from Canada to CA, including two 458 Speciale's, four 458s, and a couple of turbo S's, including my own, a DUDE drove by in a fire breathing Honda, saying "Hey Dude, is that a Turbo S or a GT3? He was obviously a porsche fan, but one had to have a 'TTS' or a GT3 to register in his world.

Why a Turbo S? Duh ... ballistic speed man! Why a GT3? ... Dunno, but everyone seems to think that's cool.

Now, doing some armchair research, I notice that visitors to the GT3 portion of this forum average between 65-100 a day when I log in. In comparison, visitors to the 991 TTS forum range from 3-9 per day. Anyone else have time on their hands to notice that?

We know the TTS is a stunning machine but for some reason it doesn't seem to clutch the cajolies the same way the GT3 does. And if usage of the GT3 forum is any indication, cajolie action associated with the GT3 must be pumpkin size compared with the acorn effects of the TTS.

Maybe that's the reason my 997 TTS is now on the 'auction block' while I wait for my 991 GT3 to be delivered in about 3 weeks. Could be that I'm simply a slave to my cajolies, though I'd hate to admit it.

I "need" to have both. They look similar to the average person but they are so different. The 991 Turbo S is the best Porsche I have ever owned and I've owned both a 997.2 GT3 and GT3 RS. And I'm a huge track guy. Flame me.

I would pick the GT3!

If I need a comfortable and fast grand tour, I would get a used 12C for the same $$.

I am not a "need both" guy, but as I stated in another similar thread I have been driving a beautiful 2014 agate grey TTS for a month and I am very impressed. Turbo response is instant. If I owned this car (I want kyrocks color) I would not have purchased the GT3 (btw..uncle works for Porsche and just texted from Germany my car rolled out into open air from final inspection at 4:40pm yesterday!!!). I think there are a fraction of the turbo owners (many in this forum) that are enthusiast by the true definition, that's why the 991 turbo forum has limited traffic. It's a f-ing great car though!!!

My dad has a 997.2 Turbo S. Lol I said "my Dad" as if I am a youngster, he is 82 and I am 56. Anyhoo I have had a 997.1 GT3, currently have 997.1 Turbo with Alpha9 kit/JRZ coil overs and a 996 Cup and His stock S still amazes me every time I drive it. The thing just rips. Yeah the steering and that alive feel are not as on par but what a car! I cannot image how good the 991TTS is. Now if your around the St. Simons Ga area please do not pick a race with him..... at 82 he still does not know when to let it be

I agree as well, have a 997.2 tts cab that not only I drive, but my wife loves as well. It can be driven in beast mode for me, but is a great toy car for my wife and will never ever bite her like a gt3 could.

I look at the tts as the date car, and the gt3 as my get away from it / track car, much as I view my Ducati SPS.

Unlike many on this board, I WISH I could own both! I'm loving my 6-speed '10 Turbo, and evenenjoy driving it in the winter with proper rims/tires...Around town, and in general, I prefer a manual transmission, but the new GT3 gets my pulse raised...It looks and sounds amazing.

I can understand why the GT3 . I have a 997.2 turbo s as a weekend car and BMW X5 as a daily driver and the GT3 was making more headlines than any other Porsche , which led me to ordering one . During the waiting phase I was having second thoughts And was really worried that I will be losing the torque and power of the best ! That is until I had the chance to test the Gt3 extensively ; MY God , that thing was something else , it blew me away and I realised that the turbo s was too comfortable and only engages you when you are hitting a open highway .
The gt3 was probably more power from kick and it was the most pleasurable adrenaline 1 hour drive that I have ever experienced , I was then looking forward to receive vine my car with 0 degree second thoughts

Is the Turbo S really that much faster than the GT3? Based on the Car and Driver test results of both cars, the Turbo S is only slightly faster than the GT3. Does this mean the GT3 RS will be able to match the Turbo S in straight-line acceleration?

Yeah, I can not figure out why there is not more activity on 991 turbo form. What I think it is GT3 owners track there cars way more and are
Definitely car enthusiast. Hence more forum activity.
My track experience vs the GT3. Stock I would say they about equal.
Gt3 quicker in the corners vs TTS exit corners quicker and is faster on straights. One thing I did not like was the TTS s exhaust sound.
Well I fixed that with GIAC stage 2 , Tubi exhaust , lowered TTS 30mm , same as GT3.
Car still drives like a GT cruiser, or Sport + Brutally fast.
Now GT3 s are in my rear view mirrors!
But the one thing that I love about the GT3 is it looks.
GT3 looks so much better!

Question (I've never driven a Turbo): Does the Turbo S handle exactly the same as a C4S?
