I'd like to know as well, especially in the GTA. No idea who the best wrap/tint people are around here.

I am wrapping the car in 3M....forgot offhand what the product is but it's the wrap with 2 layers of clear coat so not necessary to keep it clean....it's 1900 for full front, rockers, some rear areas behind the wheels, A pillars, and some roof.....

It's a good idea, especially if you plan on keeping your car for many years, to have at the very least the entire front end protected. Here is a brand new Porsche Boxster that was parked in a garage during the Oakland and Berkeley protests recently.

The owner of this Boxster came back to the car to find that it was extensively keyed. The hood was damaged, but fortunately it was fully protected. The side door and rear quarter panels were not protected, so those had deep key gouges that requires a full repaint.

Fortunately, the hood was fully protected. Only took about 2 hours to replace the hood vs. 1 week for the rear quarter and door. So unfortunate.

If you can't stand the look you are at the wrong place. Properly done, I have people examine my cars and can't find the film until I show them a hidden edge. Some go so far as to insist it isn't there.

Nah, I don't think so. I live near Premier Films in Fremont, who many think is the best in the Bay Area. I have seen multiple cars there. I admit it's hard to discern on a colored car, but it's very obvious on white, especially the difference between bumper and hood (apparently b/c of differences of the underlying material). I'm not talking about the edges, but the discoloration and dullness of paint under the film. If you can't see it, that's great, but it's very obvious to me.
I have a white car. No film anywhere. Took in on a spirited drive through the dirt rocky and twisty Mines Road over the weekend and it still looks great after a wash.
I saw a car at Premier with whole body wrap and front/back cameras for total of $12K. I would rather just drive and enjoy my car. Not going to baby it or saving it for someone else. To each his own though.

Just received my car back after the PPF install (Xpel Ultimate) by Larry Millen of Clear Auto Bra in Plymouth, MI (no affiliation). An excellent job.

Got all but the rear deck lid wrapped, and Larry added the wing with extra material. I've included a few photos of the *naked* rear deck lid with adjacent wrapped panels. These pics are at 1:1 crop or greater, and provide a good comparison of wrapped vs not wrapped paint. The pic of Larry was not taken by me and is of less resolution than the other photos.

I think Sloopy hit it on the nail. I have a white GT3 and a Viper TA and cannot tell it's there. Incidentally, I believe you were there at Premier's this past weekend as I was there to pick up my Viper TA (in white) and saw your white GT3 there. I was working with Greg on payment and overheard your conversation with David and find your comments here interesting. Because from everything I heard, you couldn't tell there was anything on my Viper and my car is white. David had to point out to you what was covered on my car and what was bare paint.

I've had over 10 cars done and several them are white. If it's done by a true pro like Premier, you would be hard pressed to find it unless I pointed out where to look.

I have had Premier do three cars for me; front wrap. One was white and recently at new RR in a silver bronze color. No one could ever tell they had wraps. I pointed out my A8 to the Audi dealer and kept looking to see if he could tell and could not fine the wrapped parts.

My GT3 is going to them the end of the week but still debating level of coverage.

Actually not true, I could tell the difference between your Viper's front bumper and hood, and this is why David explained the reasons about the underlying material. (Great looking Viper btw). David's a very nice guy, so I am always polite in complimenting their work. But if you can't tell the hood vs bumper, then it's great for you. But this convinced me again not to do the wrap. What I could not tell were the seams or really much change on the GT Silver GT3 there at the shop, which had a full wrap. I think on a colored car it does seem a good idea for a front wrap at least. Believe me, I wanted to do a wrap if possible, and have visited the shop a few times to research, but ultimately for my white car I'd just rather see the natural paint. That being said, I would love to see your white GT3, especially if you have had it for a while, b/c it would be nice to see how the film holds up over time.

You are talking about a color differential between bumper and other parts - isn't that just normal and not related to the film? Many white cars have a color differential because of the underlying material that is painted (like you state) not because of a film.

Did you get the underside of the wing done? It was really dirty on my car after a spirited drive, just as bad as the rockers on the outside edges.

I'm not a huge PPF fan, only had the front and rockers done, but if you are after total protection...

No, didn't get the underside of the duck tail or wing done. My guy just added the top of the wing with extra material, seam underneath the wing.

Originally, I wasn't going to do the deck/wing area at all, having been told that it wasn't necessary. Now after noticing just what you have, I'm not so sure it doesn't need it. Just looking at the GT3 RS pics in the snow shows how much stuff gets sprayed up there from the rear wheels.

Oh well, might be heading back to the installer this spring.

I just did the front bumper and full hood on mine. The only chips on my previous 911 were in those 2 places.
