I haven't gone on a group canyon run in a long time but, several So. Cal GT3 owners have talked about a get-together / canyon run. And, I'm getting PMs about it so, I'd like to set something up for December and spring time as well. I pulled a few prior runs threads from another forum to recall how I used to set these up and found the following:

Having looked at these, two things come to mind. First, a lot of folks can tend to show up and, second, coordinating date and route in advance is best. This should be much smaller unless we invite other model owners. My thought is to keep this within this forum but, that anyone from Rennlist or 6Speed should be welcome. Also, if you're expecting delivery after the set date, feel free to join us in another vehicle.

The other thing I thought of is whether we want to coordinate around other activities such as Supercar Sunday.

One option is a 6:00 a.m. meet at Westfield Promenade for Super Car Sunday on December 14, 21 or 28, 2014 for an hour or two followed by a drive to RockStore for breakfast, cruise through Santa Monica Mountains, lunch at Neptune's net, drive back up PCH to take Latigo Canyon back to the valley would make for a nice morning and early afternoon drive. Another option is to skip the Super Car Sunday and meet at the Starbucks at Topanga Canyon and Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills a location I'm used to starting from that has parking and leaving at a more pleasant 9:00 a.m. start followed by a similar trip that would allow us to do this on a Saturday.

Well, if you're interested, please list name and preferred dates. Oh, and, I suppose I should post the usual safety and liability releases in case there is a large response instead of just three people.

GUIDELINES

1. Safety is the first and foremost concern. Do not drive beyond your limits or the limits of your GT3. If you want to go a little faster, you're up front. If you want to take it easy, stay in the rear. Remember many of us will be in break in and have slippery new tires even if they are MPSC2s.
2. Keep enough distance between you and the car in front of you. Please do not tailgate, there is no reason for it at all.
3. Do not exceed the speed limit on Mulholland Highway. There are simply too many cops on that stretch of road to bother going faster than posted speed limits. Keeping speeds at or near speed limit will make this a fun, safe and enjoyable run for everyone.
4. I am not an event coordinator and anyone attending this run does so at his or her own risk and assumes the liability for any personal injury or property damage.
5. Gas up in advance of attendance. Check your tires for pressure and wear.

Topanga Canyon south bound, right on Mulholland Dr. On the way, we'll pop into the Gelsons parking lot to make sure we're all together. Turn left onto Mulholland Highway. Turn left onto Stunt road. Turn right onto Schueren Rd. Turn right on to Piuma. Right on Las Virgenes and left on Mulholland Hwy.

Rockstore is at 30354 Mulholland Hwy, Cornell, CA 91301

Continue on Mullholland Hwy right on to Little Sycamore Rd. to Yerba Buena Rd. Turn left on PCH and NN is right there.

Neptune's Net is at 42505 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265

PCH to Latigo Canyon Rd to Kanan Dune Rd that will take you to freeway 101.

A few more small caveats. The police in SoCal tend to be much more focused during the Thanksgiving to New Years time period than any other time of year. Would hate to provide them , among other things, with a rolling caravan of no front license plate fix-it tickets!

Folks, assuming December 14, 2014 meet, please post of you prefer to meet at 6:00 a.m. at Super Car Sunday and stay there for an hour or two or if you prefer to meet at Starbucks 9:00 a.m. and skip SCS. SCS is located at Topanga Canyon Blvd and Erwin in Woodland Hills. Again Starbucks is at Topanga Canyon and Ventura Blvd.

I think December participation on 13th or 14th limited for some of us in that our cars were supposed to get into San Diego port by Dec. 5th and present ETA says Dec. 7th. A little tight.

What you do in that case is sign up with dates you think will work best for you. And, just because you sign up, doesn't mean anyone is going to spank you if something comes up and you can't show.
