Chris Harris' 991 GT3 vs 458 Speciale video
Hi all. Chris Harris and his new youtube channel is finally out, comparing the 991 GT3 and the 458 Speciale on a damp track. Not many surprises, as the Speciale was a bit faster on the damp track (0.32 second difference), and more exciting to drive than the GT3. Enjoy:

Thanks for posting.
As with all the other reviews (i.e. Autocar, etc.), just comparing the GT3 to the 458 (either Italia or Speciale) is a testament, and a tribute, to the overall prowess and capabilities of the GT3.
Just putting the two cars side-by-side is a victory for the GT3, regardless of the outcome of the actual comparison.
For a car that costs, what?, a 1/3 of the Ferrari (depending on the exchange rates and what country you reside in), how can the Ferrari not outperform the Porsche.
P.S. Curious why automotive hacks and Youtube journalists don't put up the TTS against the Speciale on a track ...

Thanks for the link! I was wondering when Harris would resurface with his own channel.
Although I'm no Harris, I would echo is sentiments after driving both the 458 and GT3 on track.
Noise: coin toss. Both are great
GT3 easier to drive
458 more lively rear end
458 faster acceleration
GT3 awesome bang for the buck
Would love to have both.

I have a 458 and the GT3. The GT3 is a great 911 and a wonderful sports car, But if you have the coin and the garage space.........

As has been mentioned, to be compared with the 458 speciale is a terrific endorsement of the GT3.
OP, thank you for posting.

Speciale vs 991 gt3
298k$ vs 135k$ (~160k difference??)
597hp vs 475hp (~120hp difference)
2844lbs vs 3135lbs(~290lbs difference)
398lb.ft vs 326lb.ft (72lb.ft difference)..
The ferrari has all the advantages, and every reason to win this test on paper..
Once again, it's amazing how the gt3 can even get close to it and it's funny how chris harris and the bunch find it to be such a good rival to the speciale where on paper it seems like it should be a no match..

The lap time was pretty close for a 1:40+ lap. And looks like when the GT3 was being timed, the condition was worse? (wipers were on, looks like the rain was coming down harder) As usual, an impressive showing by the 991 GT3!
