OT: The "other, other, GT car": Corvette Z06 test drive reports

The GT3's nearly accelerating with the Z06 despite being 175 hp down- both do 11.1 1/4 mile at 126 or 127 per C&D. Add downforce, grip and power with the RS- should be a good battle if they want it to be.
And Porsche has shown a willingness to protect their turf at the Ring even if it breaks their own rules (GT2 RS). Perhaps another motive to delay releasing final RS specs- they wanted to know what they need to cover?
Even with the 918 Porsche has said the 6:57 isn't final, reserving the right to go back and do it again if McLaren ever publishes a time. It seems one game they take pretty seriously. I wouldn't bet against them.

Dump the turbos, electric steering, 300lbs, button down the suspension, and give it a real manual and the car would be so much more engaging.
That said, it's a hammer (11.66sec qtr mile) and a heck of nice commuter.
I trust it'll look far better in person than it does in photos/videos. Too bad about the 6,500rpm redline.

I'm not a Corvette fan,nor do I care so much about lap times, but in today's world that's what everyone is using as comparison. If I have to align myself to the lap time philosophy for a minute here,I'd say this car is the bargain of the century!

Its not out yet. I would have included the 918, P1, and LaFerrari if were talking desirability. Meanwhile here's MT: Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS9nV-qtXro&list=PLEFAC5D656286E89B

No doubt straight out of the box, dollar for dollar it's hard to not be a bit amazed at the Z06's raw, claimed, performance capabilities.
But where are the Nurgburgring times? We know GM was doing test runs, as evidenced by this recent fender bender.

At least one additional attempt was made about 3 weeks afterwards as seen below, but no 'Ring times?

So why no published times yet? Is GM collaborating with McLaren?
And having just been to the LA Auto Show, why are Recaro seats not offered on the Z06 when Cadillac will offer the option on their V-models for the CTS, and as standard equipment for the ATS-V model.

Here's member redbear in his 7.2 RS
Not too far off a time set by a pro driver (Pobst) in a press car; I was at RA that day in 2012, cold and windy
ZO6 straight line speed and top end are a bit below expectations, but cornering and grip appear to exceed them. The RS will probably get close for more than double the money!

Yea of little faith...

But the tortoise wins the race. If past experience predicts the future of this Z06, it will be dead on the track before a GT3 gets winded.
Of course, I'm exaggerating some, but reliability and durability on the track are something porsche dominates over the bargain options.
