Polaris Leader has been sitting at anchor outside the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal Port of Colon since 8:00 pm PST last night (11:00 pm Panama time). It has been waiting over 17 hours now to enter the Panama Canal.
Hope those idled guys aren't sitting in my car having a cigarette.

I tracked an earlier ship through the canal from Emden to SD and the queuing Polaris Leader is doing now is consistent with what the other ship did (26 hours on the other one). We're all jonesing for our cars, but it's not very common for carriers to beat a published ETA. Once Polaris Leader enters the lake before the first lock, it should take +/- 8 hours to pop out on the Pacific side based on the one I tracked previously. Then it's 9 days up to SD which should put it on-track for original ETA(+/-).
Where we might get lucky is port to dealer - I'm telling myself 7-10 days but might be quicker based on some people's experiences.
Don't let my words fool you, however. I've never waited for anything this long in my life and I am not good at it.

Gents - as of a couple minutes ago, ship is now in the Gatun Lake portion of the canal and if all goes well, should pop out on the Pacific side by late afternoon/early evening today. Then it's an uphill run to SD. That part is tough because it feels so damn close. Keep the faith.

Polaris Leader is now in the Pacific...Armbar (is that like a single leg or a fireman's carry?) - you were right, why subscribe to Fleetmon when you have me?

Bruno,

I agree!

How about when we get our cars we meet up and I buy lunch, or coffee or beer?

Armbar and Bruce . . . if you want to put on some break-in miles, come on up to Visalia for lunch. We have numerous corner taco trucks where we can keep a close eye on our new cars!

Thanks SP!

Never know I may find my way up there some time. If you're down in the LA basin give me a shout as well. I'm up for it!

Yes. Is your car on the PL?
