I have owned 3 Vipers, 1 1997 GTS and 2 different 2006 Srt Coupes.
They are really powerful. They demand a drivers undivided attention. What moved me from the car was the shifter. If you are going ***** out, and are not careful, you can hit 2nd while intending to hit 4th. Keep in mind you are well over 100 going into 4th. The shifter is not gated, it is attached to the trans, and the trans torques to the right. If you flip your hand upside down it forces your arm into a better spot to avoid this.
It will reward a great driver, and punish an inexperienced one. It truly is a monster. Lots and lots of fun, and that ACR is really something else. In the right hands that car is wicked fast. Unfortunately that person is not me. They aren't cheap either, I paid 100k in 2006 but it was not an ACR. The early ones were very hot in the cabin too. You could cook sometimes inside.
Yes that will give a lot of cars a serious run!!!
Whoever gets one, good luck!!!

Is there any GT3 driver that would seriously consider a Dodge viper instead? not even in my ball park. I drover one a few years ago and it was more like a SRT truck than sports car. Brutish. Not what I consider a rewarding drive unless you are going to a mud-pull
If it wasn't made by Dodge, I might consider it - I promised to never buy another one after my last one was rusting and falling apart after 4000 miles...

The current T/A will easily out run a 991GT3 on almost any track. I have a T/A and a GT3. If I really want to haul I always take the Viper. The New ACR and GT3RS should be a good match. Lets not forget a STOCK 2010 ACR has done 7:12 at the ring, no Porsche, except the 918 is close, even 4 years later. Allan

I've been in a lot of Vipers on track. While they are impressive I wouldn't own one. Just not the car for me.

I had a 2010 ACR in that color scheme.....it was an amazing track car and got a ton of attention.....paid 100 for it and lost 30 after 18 months but it was a joy to own.....

I've spent way too many laps watching vipers pull away from me and all the other Porsches on track. The ACR is a monster. Cup car speed. Parts are cheap. It's hot, raw and doesn't have the engineering refinement of the GT3, but it is wicked fast. After watching Ben Keatings GT3R lap at VIR, I know what kind of car I'll get if I ever stray from Porsche.

Didn't they cancel their Tudor series program the day after winning the one of the championships? Seems odd to cancel the racing program right before launching a 'track' model...

I loved my 2010 ACR. It was a ton faster around the track than my '11 GT3RS. It was definitely like using a butcher knife vs the scalpel-like approach of the RS--but boy is it fun. Waiting for the ZO6/ZO7 I've ordered in a manual for track work next spring--I'm hoping it's as good!

After the repricing, option laden comfy Chrysler interior these cars a gigantic bang for the buck. Bugs fun and speed in a cement truck kind of way but is that worse than the techno laden new Porsches? Id take a Viper over a 918.

I really really wish manufactures, Porshce included, would stop putting these big aero appendages onto the cars, but instead sell the aero as an optional kit. Driving a street car on the road with all these canards and big-*** wings is not very classy.
