Default White Metallic

What do we think about this vs regular white? I know is has been discussed beside but figured some new deliveries might have come through since last post regarding this... Would like opinions of people who have the color or have seen it. I have a white 14 and need to finalize my 15 order by Thursday or Friday. Have guards red selected but thinking about changing and don't want to get exactly the same again. Thx

Mine will arrive next week, but I did see it on a 991S it was stunning. It's not that weird pearl blue and pinkish color. Basically it's white white metallic, and popsin the light. No light it's not a bright white, but subtle MHO.

I thought about it, but was concerned about paint matching for touch-up or repair (had a similarly complicated off- white gray metallic on a previous car that was impossible to match in all lighting conditions).

It is not exactly the same but is very close. You will only notice the metallic from about 2ft away. I ordered metallic white on mine because I wanted something a little different than regular white. If you are not excited about regular white then you should get the red. The whites just don't look that different from each other.

I was thinking the same... Very tempted to order it but potential paint repair/touch up is challenging. Fee the same about silvers.

A good paint guy will make it work no problem. My M5 is Sakhir Orange, and the dealer scratched the door pretty good. Paint guy fixed it, and I can't even tell!

I compared a carrara metallic and normal white next to eachother - the carrara was brighter and I liked the look and given the choice of whites that's the one I'd take. I chose between red and carrara and ended up going red to save $1800 (absurdly inflated local price).

I've seen a Turbo in CWM and did get a pearl vibe around the base of the side mirrors. Otherwise its a pretty nice color and has a luxurious look to it. My girlfriend has a white Lexus with a similar paint and it looks pretty nice there, but it also does not get the gray hues that the CWM does. IMO its more of a Turbo color than a GT3 color, and I passed on it.

This.

Obviously its a very personal thing, but having seen both in person, I chose the regular white. Nothing wrong with the white metallic, of course, it is gorgeous like all Porsche paints. But it has a definite greyish hue to me...reminded me a lot of suzaka metallic for Audi. Cool color, but for me, if you are going for the "race car" look with white on your GT3, this is not it. And if I wasn't going to do that look, I probably would have been more inclined to do Rhodium or another silver/grey...

OP have you thought of Sapphire Blue Metallic? My build locked already for a "White" GT3 but if I could go back I'd do Sapphire Blue or Racing Yellow perhaps

I looked at both colours side by side and there was a subtle difference from afar. Up close, you can see the metallic flakes.
Personally, I think the metallic flakes and the very very soft gray hue, really makes the standard platinum wheels look really choice.

I love the colour and sort of regret not getting it. It's unique, esp on a GT3. If I lived in a sunny climate, it would have been my first choice...

GL/Cheers,

B

its one of those things whereby you probably cant go wrong... I mean, if you see it driving down the road, it will look white...

I think the thing is, its just not as BRIGHT white as the regular, and therefore doesn't "pop" quite the same... I get, purely my take on it. Some don't like that bright pop, they describe it as refrigerator white and they don't like it...

Its really just a personal opinion thing. Someone posted that the grey/metallic fleck might pick up the standard wheels better, that's a good point and I haven't seen that. The Carrera white metallic I saw was on a boxster and cayenne...
