Default What can I do with a VIN number?

My salesman gave me a VIN number, is there anything I can do with it? Like track the car status?

j/k :-)

Only the dealer can track the car (except when it's on the ocean, you can use marinetraffic.com)

The best you can do is this:

That's what you would need to get a bank loan.

Paid already, since I am doing a Euro Delivery in 2 weeks...

Looking at the VIN itself is pretty painful, dry and boring way to burn 2 weeks...

LOL!!! Mine isn't on the boat, it's sitting somewhere, hopefully indoor, waiting for me to do a ED.

Step 1: Go to this webpage: http://admin.porschedealer.com/repor...AB2A80FK181628
Step 2: Replace my VIN with your VIN
Step 3: Make sure the car was built the way you specified

Not working for me!
It said 'This vehicle is not available'.

Lets hope something isn't stuffed up...

Are you in North America?
Sorry, I should have mentioned that this is only for the US and Canada.

Yep, in New York. Does the car have to be shipped before it works?? Or may be it won't work for Europe delivery?

Worked for me as well. Only shows build information though. I wish we could see build status as well.

Need to make sure vin is WP0(zero) not the letter O.

Correct, make sure WP0(ZERO). not WPO(letter O). If you use a "O", you will get a message that the vehicle is not available.

I did, I asked me dealer to send me VIN again, copy and paste over and still won't work.

Emailing dealer to ask why now...

The vin does not get registered until it leaves the US terminals. That's where the Mahoney sticker is printed. Until then the vin shows up as not valid.

When I got my C4S, as soon as the gave me the VIN (before the car was built at the factory) I was able to look it up on web vin lookups like this:
