Thanks for the review. Can you tell us more on how the ride compares with the 991S in sport mode. I currently have a '13 991 S and would like to know the difference or similarity. Congrats again and thanks.

The ride is close to 991S in sport. Maybe slightly firmer. On the same token, I think the GT3 does a better job at making a firm ride more compliant, if that makes any sense. Just simply not very jarring and one of the roads I was on is really kind of crappy.

Pretty much matches my review of the car when driven under 5500 rpm. Docile, quiet, comfortable ride even on bad roads.

So I'll still argue that if one wants a car which is fun on the road at 'reasonable' speeds, there are plenty of cars more engaging (and much less expensive) than the 991 GT3.

OTOH, the combo of comfy on the road and fast on the track sounds ideal for me, which is why I ordered the car.

Agree - if I were buying a car simply to have some fun on the roads, this would not be the car for me. It's too frickin fast and requires too much windup to explore its capabilities.

Not saying AT ALL that it's not fun on the street (to me it's a BLAST!). Even at 5000 or 6000 it still makes you laugh out loud. When driving it though, you do just get the feeling that the track is where you can really experience this car.

Do you have seat time in a 997 GT3? If so what's your take on steering comparison?

Funny you came up on another one on 400 (although perhaps not since you were a mile from PCNA). Despite the rarity of the GT3 I've seen 7 on the road (mostly around Atlanta, but also one in Naples and one in Chattanooga) since July. I haven't seen a single new BMW M3/M4 during that time.

I also don't think I've seen a single 997 GT3 during that time either (Petit Le Mans doesn't count), other than my reflection

Thanks for the review. I have yet to see a 991 gt3 and wonder if the first one I lay eyes on will be mine in early January.

Have not driven a 997 Gt3 enough to do a comparison.

7 is a lot! This was the first I have seen in the wild. It had temporary tags.

I haven't seen a 997 gt3 on the road in over a year. There is a red one in Roswell. I think the number of spottings may show how streetable this car is vs the 997.

How do you compare it to your CS at these lower RPM's (5000 or so) on the street. Feels just as fast, faster, or possibly feels slower?

A couple of weeks ago I was traveling south on 95 near Branford Conn. and spot in a blink a Agate

991-3 going north ,it may well have been the "Dude" , I remember it brought a huge smile and

thoughts of excitement . I have seen several 14's @ Champion awaiting motors swap and sat in one they had out in the showroom

Is this turning cult like ?

Sean, I may have seen that same white GT3. The Sunday before last we were leaving Caffine and Octane and I saw it going in the opposite direction. I thought he might be headed to C&O so I whipped around but he didn't stop. I couldn't catch up in my Tundra. I have to believe that Hennessy and Jim Ellis have delivered quite a few GT3s. We should see if we can get an invite to their customers for the Smokey Mountain Run in the spring.

There's actually a bit lower end torque on the 3 than the C2, but the engine revs so fast, you'll feel like it's faster.

That's my impression from a quick 1/2 hour test drive of the 3 and having owned a 991 C4S.

I'd say in the low RPM's it feels the same, but it Ipse's point, the engine revs so frickin' fast, you are only there for a brief moment. What I do LOVE about that is that it makes it extremely easy to drive. It's not like it has massive power down low, and so you can cruise quietly. In other words, in very high torque cars, a tap of the gas breaks the wheels loose. In the GT3, you have to make it very clear you are trying to let it fly a bit... and when you do, OMG is it fun!

One thing I had heard about, but didn't really understand was the upshift boom. Just wait till you hear it!
