Loving that 355, IMO one of the most beautiful and best sounding Ferrari's ever.

Awesome garage man! How long have you had the flooring? I assuming it's still indestructible.

Thanks! I've had the Swisstrax for 2 years. It is made out of some pretty heavy duty plastic so I suspect it is going to last a very long time. The only tricky part with the installation was cutting the tiles for the perimeter with a jigsaw cutting tool, but after a few tiles I got the hang of it.

Drifting
Matt, that was a great video! Entertaining commentary and step by step look at the DIY and I loved it when your "helper" showed up. I found myself talking to the computer screen offering encouragement as you were going through the process. I sympathized with you on the tight working space. The JP stands get the car up a little higher and make things a little more comfortable. BTW, thanks a lot for the shout out, although you took the whole exercise to a different level.
Someone else had an issue getting the engine tray off even after removing the 11 screws and contacted me about it (sorry I can't recall who, was it you Rob?). Anyway, my tray did not have those retaining pieces, so I had no trouble removing it, and that's why there is no mention of them in my write up. My suspicion is that when my engine was replaced at the port by the Porsche techs, they didn't bother reinstalling the retainers if they were even there in the first place. I think they are only there to hold the tray so it doesn't just drop after the screws are removed. It's supposed to be a convenience but ends up being a PITA. I'm glad I didn't have to deal with it and next time you won't either.
I'm surprised Suncoast is still including the green O-ring in their kit as I had a couple of conversations with them about it and I thought they were going to leave it out which is why, to avoid confusion, I didn't mention it in the DIY. There was no O-ring on my replacement engine's filter and I've never seen an O-ring used with a spin on filter. There's also no mention of it in the workshop manual procedure although it shows up on the parts diagram. In any event, I left it off as well.
I noticed that you drained oil from both plugs in the sump. The workshop procedure only specifies removing the forward drain plug, and it's low enough in the pan that it should drain all the oil, but both plugs can obviously be removed and it might ensure getting the last couple of ounces of old oil. Also no grief from me about using a torque wrench on the plugs. I do it by feel also. It makes me nervous to use a long wrench with that much potential leverage on a plug in an aluminum casting. Maybe I need a newer torque wrench.
FWIW, I've amended my original DIY to add the info about the retaining clips and the O-ring.
I really enjoyed watching that and thanks for taking the time to do it. And I love your garage.....

Jumbolair 1/2 Mile Shootout
At the last minute, I got a two day spot from one of my buddies at Titan for the Jumbolair 1/2 Mile Shoot Out that was held about 40 minutes from my house in Ocala.
I really wanted to go, but was secretly glad I didn't have tickets. Those of you that have gotten to know me from the forums can imagine I was a bit nervous going flat out with a giant crowd around watching. Not only did I luck into a spot, but I got a two day sponsor pass.
To add fuel to the fear, this airstrip was like an ice skating rink. Something about the type of payment made launching a car impossible. For some reason, not one single person left from a roll. Even my GT3 was almost sideways under light acceleration of the line. Launch control was useless. Needless to say I was driving around with traction control on.
I ran the M3 on Saturday. To my surprise, I had the only F8X there that day. I only ran it three times. I know. I'm a baby, but three runs was all I needed. The best part was hanging out in the crowd of cars chatting/watching while waiting for your next run. People really respond to that car. I need to stop being so unimpressed/ungrateful sounding about it. It's a good car, just not a great one.
My best time with my conservative Dinan tune was 141.68. The second day a JB4 tuned M4 on R-Compounds ran low 150s all day.
I brought the GT3 out for day two, Sunday. I know this is not what this car was built to do, but there aren't many options other than going to a HPDE where you can legally stretch the car's legs. In the group of mostly Corvettes, Mustangs, GTRs, and CTS-Vs, the refined German car certainly drew a crowd.
Being, I had one of the very few cars there under 500 hp, I was pretty darn impressed. My first run, I didn't want to use launch control. I just wanted to feel it out. I would have been sideways if it wasn't for ESC+TC being on. I ran a 147.54 pass.
The next run I decided to baby it off the line. 148.90.
The third, I tried Launch Control. ESC+TC eventually sent the car limp but I eventually got going: 147.60.
The fourth run I babied it again and got my best run at 149.02. I ran one last time against another forum member's (he forgot his screen name) Sapphire Blue GT3 that was there and got a 148.72. His previous pass was 149.60, which was the best for the both of us.
If we had different pavement, the car would get into the 150s but very low 150s in a half mile.
Anyway, I thought you guys might like to know what your 991 GT3 would do at one of these events. The two tuned 991 Turbo S were 156-161 mph. The numerous tuned 997 TT were in the mid 150s. There was one that hit 170ish. Even they were spinning through third gear.
I didn't take any photos, but I'm sure I'll have more as the pros put up their stuff.
