I wonder if they will add the cars to the competition next year, or will the 991 GT3 be too 'old' by then...

That is an interesting question given that it was a new model this year. Maybe due to the comparo done earlier with the F12? Maybe because they didn't want to enter the contest with a known bias since it's won every domestic COTY award and Motortrend itself considers it the best thing since sliced bread?
Timing is often an issue when a car becomes available shortly after the filming and whether it's considered too old the next year. Perhaps a matchup of the RS vs Z06? It'll be interesting to hear what they say in the aftermath episode on why certain cars weren't included. I imagine that the GT3 was definitely omitted due to the stop sale.

In any case, the field looks sad compared to R&T's PCOTY. They've got the GT3 and the Speciale. The problem with that though is that the results are already obvious - Speciale wins ahead of the GT3 by a hair. The rest of the field doesn't matter unless they bring in a value for money argument.
