The PSE in my opinion is not cut and dry - in that it cuts in when the button is on at different places on the rev band dependant on engine temp, load, throttle position etc. I believe its part of teh ECU programming and was done for noise emissions in Europe. Mine seems in consistent. Try turning it on at constant speed around 4000 rpm+ with partial throttle and you should hear the sound deepen - if not worth having checked out as may be a sticky valve. Im sure it was more consistent with the old engine so I suspect it has something to do with the new software but I will try it unplugged soon and see if I prefer that...
I suspect sticky valves -- my car simply didn't make any transition noise at all, then after it's first few laps on track, boom, it made a distinctive open/close sound going from brrr to bwaah! in an instant. I think getting everything seriously hot and then having higher rpm (only 6000 to 7000 in my case on a relatively young engine in terms of road miles on the odometer) the valves or the actuators shook off their cobwebs.

Love the Guards Red as well. Just beautiful. Any pics of the interior with the deviated stitching?

Congrats - Love GR also. My break in similar to yours. Keeping in under 7000 for first 500 miles and that be all

Drifting, its your crap roads it will be caddy-like in South Florida, even the RS I bet.
The rear view being blocked is annoying but I don't see how it can be fixed like on the 997RS (and 991RS?) with taller uprights, 4" taller made all the difference like we see all the time on the Riviera blue and orange Sharky 4.1L car.

Congratulations on the car.

Yeah, get red. I need more red cars to dilute the sea of whites...

Drifting, it looks awesome. Massive congrats!

The PSE can be a little subtle in terms of when it activates. To test whether it's working start the car in the garage after it's warm and listen with the windows down at idle. Press the PSE button and you should be able to hear the exhaust note change to a deeper fuller bass sound when the valves open.

Also, with the exhaust cool of course, reach around behind the valve on each side of the center muffler and feel for the flapper valve control rod. You should be able to freely move the rod up against the spring pressure with your hand. This will help you determine if a valve is stuck or not.

The flaps open and close as you describe. Iircc, this is intended to increase torque.
