Jaguar F type going back to Manual. Porsche is next.

Unfortunately, I think you are probably right. As more and more manufacturers move to a PDK-only format, offering a manual will provide some differentiation to those looking for unfilled niches to boost sales. That said, I hope Porsche does offer a choice in future GT's, and I hope they offer a real manual and not a stripped out PDK conversion.

I think if you really want a manual BAD I think you can to your Chevrolet dealer and get the New Chevy SS NASCAR edition. It comes with a manual...Oh and a carburetor! Oh and NO fuel gauge!

" The new six-speed unit, developed in conjunction with ZF, has a semi-dry sump lubrication system. This reduces the need for a large oil capacity, thereby reducing the overall size and weight of the unit. Definitely good things for a sports car.
Also maintaining the “purity” of the car, Jaguar decided against offering rev matching for the manual transmission. "

If Ferrari still offered a MT Porsche would as well. Ferrari is the standard bearer of the sports car world and they set the pace and tone for everyone else. The Ford GT40 was built solely to beat Ferrari. The 917 was built to beat Ferrari. Ferrari legitimized the F1 paddle transmission and everyone else inevitably followed. Jaguar's adoption of the MT is the chicken entree at a lobster banquet. Someone will order it because they don't like lobster.

I'm more concerned about tree hugger effects on Porsche's future....lower displacement motors with turbo and batteries. If you want to be fastest on the track, manual is not it...PDk is.

It's a shame that as Jaguar began to offer Manual they also took away the hydraulic steering at the same time (no overlap).

Also a shame that unfortunately the manual isn't currently available with the V8 or 4wd. So no manual F-Type R, and also no 2wd Type R currently.
Strange that they'd develop it for the 6 only?

Pete,if you look at the beginning of the thread there's a video with a test mule that was shot at the Ring. It sure sounds like it has a manual. It also has a roll cage. I believe the hardcore version is coming soon.

Nick, maybe the manual is the cheap version for those that can't afford the PDK I remember back in the days the Auto was always more expensive.
