Default I raced a GT3 on the autobahn today

Guys, I'm still in Germany... took delivery of a Turbo 4 weeks ago, as a temporary replacement for my yet-to-be-built GT3...

Today I spent the entire day in a 458 Speciale. The car is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I'll post a full report on this car when I have time.

While driving at a very high rate of speed on the A95 autobahn heading toward Munich in the 458 Speciale, a black GT3 entered the autobahn ahead of me. He must have seen me coming, as I was in the left lane at around 250 kph, and quickly hopped into the lane ahead of me. I gained on him rapidly, as he was still accelerating.

Anyway, we "played" for about 15 minutes until we got into a reduced speed construction zone that lasted until we got into the city limits...

AND...

As good as the 458 Speciale was, it wasn't pulling on the GT3. We are running really close. I thought for sure I would reel him in once we got to 250+, but it was tight. And a HUGE amount of fun!

Photos of the 450 Speciale are forthcoming...

Wow!! - Sounds like your having a blast. I am jealous. Never did I think when I traded my R8 last July for a GT3(still at Port) that people would be comparing it to a 458 - let alone the Speciale which was not even out. - Nice

What did it cost to rent a 458S?

This photo was taken first thing this morning, before beginning the drive. We are staying in the Austrian Alps. My girlfriend took the photo using HDR with some digital enhancement. I like the effect.

Rental cost roughly $2000/day. Totally worth it.

Love the rims. It exposes so much of the Brake calipers

Beautiful pics! $2k is not bad considering how much miles and time devalue these cars. Did you have a restriction on miles driven?

What's with all the "4x4" space between the wheels and fenders? I could almost fit my whole arm in there. Does the suspension have that much "give"?

200 kilometers per day. Otherwise you pay 3.60 Euro per kilometer overage. My overage was 220 kilometers. :-)

I agree - lots of space inside the wheel wells... I don't know why, but I was thinking the same...

Wow, great pictures of the Speciale.

Did it have a stripe?

I am in Munich now. May I ask where you rented the car?

Wow, sounds like an amazing experience you had!
Can't wait to read more about this experience, and the comparison 991GT3 vs 458S :thumb up:

Sounds like a very nice idea to rent the 458S for a day.

$2K/day for a 458 Speciale - cheaper than a couple of hours with some big shot therapist. Well worth it.
Nice pic, thanks for sharing.
