Haha I went to BMW to get the pre lease return inspection on wife's 535I MSport and saw those plugged in at the dealer. They had 2 used ones. Sorry it's to cheap looking inside for the money, they are like $45K... That's a beater? Baller you.

Thank you, drove it today, after 5 weeks started right up, everything works still as far as I can tell.

Max, so let's narrow this down, an old M3, what do they go for?
What $$ you want to send on a beater? Some here live in a different stratosphere (Slinky) good taste but I think you mean a different type beater?

-dependable, so easy to keep running and quality
-fun, so RWD
-not girly, maybe even kinda cool.
-dings and dents are going to happen so it already needs some patina
-not ghetto looking
-$$?
-pretty comfy for the tired after plain ride home..

What else?

Well, compared to a $130K G63 it's a beater. Besides it will mainly be my wife's "beater" (it's what she wanted); I have the Cayenne S. If you opt for the leather interior which we did it's quite nice inside and not cheap looking at all, IMHO. Overall, nicer materials than our A3 which was in the same price range. Anyway that's $45K minus a $10K tax credit from the Feds and CA.....

Had an A7 but sold it when I put deposit down. Now I've got my brothers '03 Accord until my car comes in. The wife and I also just picked up a '15 GTI last month.

That sums it up very accurately, except maybe the comfy part - I don't care much about that, and when I do, my wife can always pick me up in her spa-car, as she calls it (Cayenne Turbo with almost every reasonable option). I would not want to spend more than 10K with taxes - otherwise I could just keep my current M3.

After speaking with several e36 M3 owners, I like this option a lot. They are very cheap here - $6-8K for a fully working one. About the same as a miata in a comparable condition - seems like more car though.

Magic carper Cayenne Turbo :-)
I'm old and fat so I need comfy.

e36 M3 I think is your winner, I looked at other stuff and I cant see a better alternative, maybe and fresher, nicer 325I but that's it. There is other very cheap comfy stuff but nothing that drives sporty. Loved my e36's!

USC will never fix that bumper. I'll bet he's still rolling with the tire plug we put in at the track at chuckwalla a couple months ago.

I like seeing a prius abused. Unfortunately his is always in the left lane due to those carpool stickers being a plug-in.

Had an e36 m3 DD few years ago. Great car. Spent about 6k on it and about 2k fixing up AC and some other things. Drove about 30K on it in 2 years everything was great.

1995 ubercharged Miata R. With 255hp and 185's, it's a low limit terror for the street. Sideways everywhere and bloody dangerous in the rain. Love it.
