"Old" GT3 Engines??
Hi all, this is my first post here. I am itching to know the answer to this question....
Does anyone have any idea what Porsche intends to do with all the "at risk" engines they've removed from the GT3's?
I hope they're not going to have them back, replace the rod bolts and put them in new cars??

^The million dollar question. I have to believe that any old engine that had miles on it would be scrapped and the ones taken out with no miles will be shipped back to the factory. After that, nobody will know the real answer nor will I believe it

Won't this depend on how the recall is expensed by Porsche? I can't imagine the situation would be any different to the existing core exchange program. The engines will be completely dismantled and certain parts reused in engines with part numbers ending in X.

In the NA they are being destroyed. Porsche does not want these engines or their parts put back into the stream of commerce. Don't know about ROW.

Spare parts for upcoming 991 911 GT3 RS and GT2 prototypes and test mules.

Take my word for it. They are being destroyed. The fact they would do so at tremendous cost is an indication how complex the problem is with the engines. It was not an easy fix or they would have done it.

So, do you think it was more than just rod nuts then?
As for destroying them, why would they destroy the special heads? I kind of wish I was a scrap merchant!!
One story I can tell you all though is this... I have watched hundreds of injector valve bodies be destroyed, just because the engine manufacturer no longer ordered any. I asked, what about the aftermarket dealers? the response I got was not positive!!

^ I too would not have accepted a repaired/fixed engine. Only because they offered a brand new engine did I stick with it.
I believe that they will destroy all engines with any miles on it.
I would think the ones' with no miles would be shipped back and used on any future replaced engines or the parts saved for other things.
I do not know legally what their lawyers are conveying. Their may be legal implications so they will follow what they are being told

There are more parts to an engine other than a block, pistons and rods and rod bolts, and there is no indication that the rest of the motor is somehow flawed.
I bet they will be stripped down and be the basis of factory crate motors.
This wasn't an easy fix b/c it took PAG quite a bit of time to qualify the fix.
