2016 McLaren P13: McLaren's Answer to the Porsche 911
Well if Porsche won't do it... McLaren is starting to look like a good focused brand to jump ship to.
"Corstorphine insists that no McLaren remotely on anyone's wish list has more that two seats."

Maybe they are only interested trying to poach 911 turbo S buyers who feel like spending an extra $25,000 for the P13

I think if the target price was in the $140,000 - $160,000 range, nicely optioned, and deliver serious performance- they would have a winner and sell quite a few of these and give their Competitors a run for their money. VW would have a lot of pressure

You mean McLaren or Cayman?

But I don't see them pricing that low, again I don't think they can build cars at that volume. I see them moving the 12C upmarket as the 650S at or above the 458 ($300k), with the P13 just under the 458 ($235k). So it would compete with loaded, high-end 911 models (Turbo S, GT3 RS), but not directly with Carreras. (Or Ferrari or Lamborghini.)

^ Good point. Look at Porsche now, they are begging for buyers for the 918. They are falling short of expectations/budget. People do not want to pay those types of prices for a Porsche. Plus, it does not look like a bunch of Ferrari and McLaren Customers ran to Porsche. Different clientele. I think the 918 will be a great car but will take a big hit when you try to sell it in 2 years.
It is tough to try to steal business from some ones' market segment. It is easier to come down in the market than it is to go up. I guess your point is well taken that the economies of scale to hit the $140,000-$160,000 price point would prohibited by the manufacturing investment.

^ It may be. It looks like a factory spoiler. The body seems just like the Cayman GTS though from the video (we obviously cannot see the front side).
It sounds more aggressive and higher revving. So maybe it is true!! )

It lives! Looks fantastic so far...like Porsche is serious about this car...the suspension, the aero, and are those the old CGT seats? I doubt they put those in a paint and trim package test mule...I sure hope they give it the beans it deserves.

Here is a link to some other photos; they agree this is likely the GT4.

Those front brakes look like 6 pots from the 991S. Lets hope they don’t muck it up with centerlock wheels, keep the 5 lug and do 19th std for greater selection of tires. Definitely doesn’t look like 18th would fit.
