The 996TTs don't have a dipstick.

Probably because GT3 guys usually like to get their hands dirty, turbo guys not so much
I think it had to do with cup cars using them and they carried over to street cars... I've read of 997.1 guys installing dipstick from 996 cars...

SamFromTX and est8esq, are your cars fine now, after replacing of all 4 cam shaft position sensors? Do they drive on track without "reduced power" messages appearing? I've got the same issue on track today and I'm very much concerned now. :\

I'm sorry you're dealing w/ more issues?

Ever since I got my cam sensors worked out, I haven't had any limp mode issues w/ the exception of one time a few months ago?

Ran fuel down too low and should have gone in until another Rennlister running his GT3 buzzed me and tried chasing him. Car didn't like it running on fumes.

Other than that, no reduced power whatsoever. Obviously, you shouldn't be having these problems? Keep us posted after you take it in to the dealer. Curious what' going on??

On a side note, I'm running these R7 Hoosiers at Mid Ohio this week and at first blush, they were only slightly better than the R6 and admittedly I was a bit disappointed.

Today it was 40 degrees (Fahrenheit for you folks over the "Pond") and after a few laps warming up, I was good to go where everyone else, either slicks or street DOT's were slipping and sliding. Might be a good, cold temp alternative after all?

In other words, after replacing all 4 cam shaft position sensors from bad batch in January 2014 you never had to replace them any more?
Thank you!

Zero issues since then. I had the sensors replaced at around 1500-2000 miles and now have 12,000 miles+, including track. Car is solid.

Default sensor issue

I've had the sensor issue recently with my car. The local dealer replaced the sensor and then the next day the car went into limp mode again.

I asked the dealer to replace the sensors - they won't - and instead informed me that they are going to drop the engine and look at the flywheel.

This is after I told them that other guys are having the same exact issue.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

My suggestion is let them do what they intend to do. They probably have more info than we do.

I have just had the same problem with my 991 gt3 for the second time.
Reduced engine performance/engine fault, possible to drive on. Can someone give feedback on what the final problem and fix was. When i took to the dealer for the second time, they told me there is a misfire on cylinder 3 and 5. This is the same as the first time when they replaced coil and plugs but the problem reoccurred.

This sounds like it might be the cam lobe scoring problem that has ended up in some engine replacements.

As suggested, That is the common fault code for the cam issue.

I got P0004 error code stored twice now. once at 8,000 miles and again yesterday at 15,500. My first time w the error I brought the car into the dealer and they replaced spark plugs and it didn't come on again. Oddly enough the service manager was pushing me to call her friend for a tune on the car. Seriously no kidding. I wondered if this was her way of voiding my warranty. I do have pre-cat exhaust modification and assume I should revert before visiting the workshop if the issue persists despite this being a common problem.

Personally, I would not take a chance. Revert IMO.

Hi Guys,

I am reading this long thread spanning over 25 pages and haven't found an answer to the issue.
I too got a p0004 error code. Any suggestions?
