Default Audio Options (SPP, PCM, HDR, etc)

At the moment my configuration includes the following audio and communication options:

Sound Package Plus
Porsche Communication Management (PCM)
Mobile Phone Prep
Voice Control

What are the pros and cons to getting the "free" PCM?

We had an E63 AMG Merc and the radio was constantly hunting between FM and HD Radio and the worst part was the volume changed between the two. Does anyone have experience with the 991 PCM + HDR? Currently not opting for the HDR due to one report of hunting on one of the forums.

I'm not interested in Satellite radio, the location of the antenna on the rear roof just ruins the roof line for me.

I like satellite radio but forgot about the antenna. Any pictures out there with a 991 with the antenna on the roof?

Ryan, I personally can't see any con to getting the free NAV/PCM unless the extra pound or two for the added electronics is a concern. I mean $700 for a half way decent radio and NAV, plus the other settings available through PCM is a bargain, IMHO. I didn't order HDR or SAT radio. I find Pandora through my iPhone is more enjoyable than broadcast FM or SAT radio.

That wart just ruins the roofline for me. The 911 and especially the new GT3 has such beautiful flowing lines why would you want a puck stuck to the roof ?!

Agreed. I skipped as well.

Just say NO to roof and dash warts.

Mike to clarify you mean you also didn't order the Sirius option? Without that the nav won't have any traffic data, right? I actually hadn't realized this puts the antenna on the roof like that, which I agree looks poor.

I would just listen to that sweet 'flat six'...and the audio alarm on the V1!

llstuey, I didn't order Sirius so I can't get their traffic feature, which is an extra on top of the subscription price. For the kind of driving I'll be doing with this car traffic notices are no big deal. I pay $36 a year for unlimited Pandora streaming which I like better than SAT and can use on any web device. Sirius with traffic would be over $200/year plus the $750 up front for the receiver. Just wasn't worth it to me. Besides, as GTEE3 points out, I'll be listening to that sweet engine/exhaust note most of the time anyway!

If you want traffic, download "waze" app on your phone.

I guess I am in the minority because I ordered the Sirius option. I don't think the antenna looks bad and would argue it looks modern. Sirius radio is more than music. Since I will be traveling at least an hour to two hours for some track fun, Sirius radio is a must at least for me.

Modern is pandora, mog, spotify

A Bluetooth audio option would be far more valuable than HD radio or Sirius

Where do you see this described as standard or as an option? I'm not talking about Bluetooth for your phone. I'm talking about streaming audio via Bluetooth.

[EDIT] I found a youtube video which shows a 2013 991 using bluetooth audio, so apparently it is possible on the GT3? Very glad to hear it. BTW - this feature is not listed anywhere on poscheusa that I could find for the GT3.
