In the real world the GT4 is just as quick as a GT3 and is more liveable - unless you are a superstar driver and to be frank, there are no superstar drivers on here we're largely just older guys that like our cars.

But have no room for two plus, no time to enjoy both. But - make no bones about it- if I could not get a .2GT3 and I had a GT4 I would not be losing sleep over it. I would probably just be telling myself that I just saved about $75,000. But -knowing I can get one, I can not pass on her.
Thanks again for everyone's thoughts.
The great info I obtain from these awesome forums allows me to make the most "rational" decision. If I can get my promised allocation at MSRP for a manual GT3 early next year I will almost certainly take it. The better engine, and better gear ratios would be the biggest reasons for me.
I will however drive a GT3 prior to making this choice as I already think the GT4 is awesome fun.

I would have thought the GT3 is faster on the straight at HPR. My GT4 only hit 130 mph and I expect GT3's to be a good bit faster there, no?

Hey Grant. I think it had a lot to do with Tyler having a better line going into the straight, carrying more speed the corner or two before. I was not able to overcome the "driver advantage" with more speed. If we had switched cars he most likely would have flogged me.

Doesn't sound like you were too far off the line with your laptime

Braking late for the fast right-hander at the end of the straight can help accumulate a few more mph too...

Thanks! Unfortunately he had to leave early so we never had a go after I had learned the track a bit. Might have been a bit more interesting, but I was really impressed with his GT4. Very cool car!

Yeah, I was very happy with mine. Wish I didn't have to sell mine to pay for a possible GT3...

I guess some assume we have knowledge of all things since birth and to ask questions is a sign of weakness?...Some recognize it is the wise person who seeks knowledge from others who may have first-hand experience with the question at hand.....

I think the GT4 is a special car----nothing to apologize for on any level (except gearing...lol) Like others have said, if you have the means and this next gt3 looks to be very special---get the GT3...you can always locate a nice GT4...but a .2 GT3 manual will be very hard to come by for a few years if economy stays strong....I want to own a Gt3, but it doesn't serve my personal needs---as a daily driver---it was not as good as my 911 S---- I do not track and I very much enjoy going for weekly drives and listening to music with my lady on the stereo----If I could justify both---I would own both---the GT3's I have driven were incredible.

Let us know what you decide....

Cheers

Very very odd. At PBIR on the back straight in my old 991.1 GT3 I literally ran away from my buddy's GT4 with headers. Literally pulled 5-7 car lengths down the back straight!!

The only time we ran it I was on my second or third lap at the track (first time ever tracking), so not really a good comparison. Driver!

Yeah, to be honest it didn't hurt that much. I just wish there wasn't so much downtime in between...

Yeah, that part was a no go for me. I would have to sell my GT3 now, and then wait a year to get another one. Too many nice driving opportunities, and I am not getting any younger!

.2 3RS already confirmed by Porsche/AP. They're making one.
