That has to be an editing error. both cars have peak power at 8250 still afaik.

Very curios to try this new gt3. AP seemed very happy and excited about their new engine and fast and snappy the throttle response was without SMF.
Can't wait for a R against 991.2gt3 back to back test.

IMHO: I don't think Dan Trent has had the chance to experience the engine in the new GT3. It is just writing. He has probably never driven a tractor either.

I'd like tractor that revs +8000rpm ... or maybe not.

Same. I see the diesel engine comment referring to the RS and all I take from that is "more torque" although that's only based on my perception that diesel engines are all about torque. Then I took that a step further and reaffirmed to myself that the RS is still better on the track due to this torque.

Diesel engines typically have low redline and make most of their power via torque at low revs.

Love that gear crunching noise: Friend with GT3 couldn't believe his ears when he got a ride with me.

OK. Still rattles and revs up faster ;-)

The new heads must make more power on top.

The RS seems to be quicker short shifting it a bit. I tried leaving it in auto to get every last Rev out of it and it didn't sound like it was making full power and I lost 1 mph seems like.

Butt dyno said faster shifting a bit earlier as well.

I'm not an expert so my understanding may not be right. All 991.1 RS are a G-series 4.0? Have there been any failures or is this considered a "solid" engine?

Time will tell on the new 4.0 in the .2 I guess.

Id seriously consider an "as new" .1 RS for sticker if one fell in my lap if the engine is solid. Otherwise, I'm on list for the .2 GT3 and hope to get one.

I like that slight rattle at low RPM.

My mistake, I wrote tractor instead of diesel.. brainfart on my part. The line in the article still stands explaining how the power keeps climbing in the new engine vs the old 4.0. Having tracked an RS a few times i can't say I ever felt that, but maybe in comparison the new engine gives this impression?

According to those with RS, and R envy, now that the 991.2 GT3 is out, the RS will soon be below MSRP, and the R will be lucky to sell at MSRP.

As for the 991.2 GT3, you will get one. Porsche will keep making them to fill all orders. Just pick a color (standard color, or a metallic color), add the full bucket seats, and you are done at $150K. Great lightweight car, and you will thank me when it is time to sell. Here is what I will most likely order when I receive an allocation.

How would he know? It has not been available for press/test drives. Pure click-bait.

nice and clean spec! My tentative build is $170 adding the front axle lift and some leather/CF/dial color crap on the inside. Probably not necessary.

RS is still an RS though and I wouldn't mind having one if one popped up for reasonable money. Most likely though, I'll be getting the .2 GT3 and not looking back.
