Cabriolet version of 911R - Could it happen?
I have decided my dream Porsche is something along the line of a cabriolet version of a 911R.
4.0 liter naturally aspirated motor, choice of PDK or manual transmission, a little more aggressive appearance package, and tuned more for the road than the track, although still capable on the circuit. Despite the extra weight, I would want the same automated magnesium paneled cabriolet top that the current 991 cabs have. It is simply too convenient, quiet and secure to not have on something I would use as a nice weather daily driver.
Of course Porsche has made lots of special 911 variants over the years with perhaps the 997.2 911 Speedster being closest to what I am looking for.
What do you think the odds of Porsche building a special model like this?
Anybody else out there highly interested in a car like I am describing for a msrp of under $199k?

You know Marv once brought up the subject of whether Porsche would offer a GT3 cab

I may be eating my words above.

If it was based on the R variant, I'd be surprised. Then again, what other variant would they base it off of? Doubt it would be a GTS. The 997's weren't based off of GT cars though.
Regardless, there will be less Speedsters and Sport Classics than the R's I'm sure. Definitely no more.

Yes, old story. Rumors based on cleaning ladies I'm sure, but may be something to it. Both these models were made for the 997.
I think the special editions, GT's, etc will be plentiful seeing the strong demand and $$$ to be made. Guys are buying anything they put out these days.
The cars that actually have a strong following get made in #'s where you have to jump through hoops, but lots are full of Macans and Panameras. Obviously they would never sell as many GT's as Macans because there isn't as much demand for $150K+ sports cars.
