Default Cut-offf date?

I have a question about how Porsche assigns the date of manufacture for a new car; specifically for a GT version. For example, if you ordered a .2GT3 in the Spring of 2017, say March or April, and it doesn't get delivered until late 2017, or even 2018. Is the car considered a 2017 or 2018 model?

Like you guys that ordered an RS, but are getting delivery now... is it a 2016, or 2017?

Geez, I didn't know that. Do you know at what date it would be considered a 2017 manufacture?

I also question this, it makes zero sense. There should be a consistent date for all manufacturers.

I thought, perhaps, that Porsche uses the date of plant manufacture. My Spyder was manufactured in October, 2015. Yet it's considered a 2016 model??

I didn't know if they applied the same thinking to GT's?

Porsche stops model year production and switches to the next yr around June with next model years arriving late July early August. The RS deal seemed to be the exception to the rule. They (manufactures) do things in odd times or like BryanCO mentioned bring in a redesign a bit earlier.

Building out a BMW M2 for a rennlister via CJ's new Fresno BMW- the next model year was coming in June with allocations being able to be spec/changed in April/May.

Hope that helps.

I am pretty sure Macca explained that due to Euro emissions, the car would be a 2016, IIRC.

If I'm not mistaken (and I could be), each model year goes through safety and emissions testing and certification by the manufacturer ($$, time), so they are not going to change the model years based on a small amount of additional production.

I agree, but they the manufacturer should have to.

probably does not matter as much for GT cars, as when you sell the car they can track build date through vin number
