Default R- development and postponed "PTS"...

I know it was a controversial car, but having eventually been allocated one, I can't imagine ever selling my R, whatever comes next from Porsche. It's the ideal modern car for me.

So, I've been talking to Robert Linton, who is clearly doing some great development work. My intention is to look at a package of his developed parts towards the end of the year, and have them fitted in one go.

In the meantime, my R has gone back to Porsche GB, who are going to strip it back to the shell and repaint in Arrow Blue (same as 918). My late allocation meant that there was no chance of PTS at the time

Given that Daniel (lessthan3mph) was instrumental in helping me make the decision, I think this is a good place to record the progress of that. Daniel helped with initial mock-ups of the car, and I have since had a render done (with more help from @jk.automtotive on Instagram!)

So this is what is used to look like....(although now has side stripes)

And this is what it will look like. (Still to finalise stripes, but likely matte silver, and likely painted on)

Personal taste, and maybe not as subtle as some, but I like it!

I'll update from time to time.

How many of us have said that of cars that we have eventually sold? But then again, I'm not in the same stratosphere where I can afford to buy a R and then have it stripped, repainted and damn the resell value which will be tanked. Kinda of a shame IMHO.

Picture taken at Rutland Square, with the "horse and rider" in the background and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General was on the right

I REALLY need to go to Scotland to visit this place

In your position, I think that I would consider the RL kit, but would not touch the paint of the car.

The blue stripes on the white are just right, just for the same reason that the red stripes on the original 911 R were made to match the Swiss flag.

This are your car and money, so I don't have to judge, but just in case that you made it repainted, please ask for white stripes, to match the flag of Scotland

Not sure why the price would "tank" because it's repainted. It's documented it wasn't because of an accident.

Thanks for posting the progress of your incredible project, footsoldier! I'm glad my renders could be of some small use to you. I imagine very few owners will do what you've begun to undertake. It is a bold but historically fitting decision!

As you know, and for context, a number of the 1967 911R's were also completely repainted by their respective owners, and it is the new repainted colours that often ended up defining these cars. For example, I understand that the slate grey 1967 R may have been repainted from original factory Light ivory. It is also said the Scarab racing (Reventlow) blue one and a couple others were repainted post-delivery. Plus, I think the work to improve the car and reduce weight is completely in keeping with the ethos of what the 911R is all about! So congratulations and good on you for continuing the tradition! I look forward to reading more about the process and final result! Best of luck and thanks again for sharing this with us!

Daniel

This will be excellent. If I had an allocation I would have gone aqua blue with gt silver stripes. So I love yours!

Can you share details of sending it back for strip / repaint?

kuhl Footsoldier!
props for this!

reminds me on Woppum his RS:
991GT3RS --> bought - stripped - repainted --> https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...repainted.html

it seems you two have something in common
will Porsche GB do it by their own? wtdoom/Woppum were saying Porsche UK done Woppum´s RS. Which is also a dealership or a "HQ workshop"? I guess it will be the same people - which makes sense as long Woppum was highly satisfied as i have in mind.

please post a pic or two of your arrow blue 918
