For dining, I Recommend Morimoto in Napa. Check out the town of Yountville and go to any of Thomas Keller's restaurants. Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery, and Ad Hoc, French Laundry (if you can get in).

For steaks I highly recommend Press. Great atmosphere, terrific food and service. Outstanding wine list. For a very casual fun lunch check out Gott's Roadside. Great burgers and sandwiches. If want to do a picnic stop by Oakville Grocery for sandwiches to go. Have fun. Great area!

Most places are pretty amazing.. the recommendation of Yountville is solid. I stayed in the Bardessono and it is a great hotel. Ad Hoc is wonderful and unique; hard to go wrong.

I really like these wineries:
- Saintsbury
- Elizabeth Spencer Winery
- O'Shaughnessy
- Volker Eisele Family Estate

There are TONS of others and everyone has favorites (mine seem to change each trip). I prefer smaller to larger but try some along road. I will say, some people try to do 4 in a day; I think that is too many. Two is great to chill and enjoy, three is about max in my opinion when doing wine tasting, otherwise you end up being rushed.

I also recommend getting a black car to take you around. Much safer and more enjoyable. I am also a sucker for Gotts Roadhouse... good burgers.

Have fun!

The best French pastries in the USA are found at Arsicault Bakery. And the owner is a Porsche nut and a pretty quick one at that!

Lots of good info, I'll just add a few relaxed options in the city and driving routes.

-breakfast on Fillmore st, or the castro neighborhood, or little Italy (my hood)

-drive over golden gate that exit immediately at Alexander ave and go under hwy, then take a right towards Marin headlands.. amazing road.. my own private racetrack at night.. follow the coastal road all the way around.. the view will astonish you.
-then drive to Stinson beach, bodega bay, take hwy 1 as far as you dare.. each curve will be better than the one before. This is an incredible part of the country, every day living here is a dream. I remember when I used to visit norcal as a tourist in wonderment.. in fact I loved it so much I moved here. It's endless pleasure and beauty, enjoy your trip.

Bardessono in Yountville is the place to stay (but $$$$$)
The 121 and 128 are awesome roads to drive and local. If you go a little further West to the coast I LOVE starting in Pt Reyes, get a coffee and then heading North on the US 1. Actually my favorite road when on the bike.
Peju one of my favorite wineries.
Unfortunately it's a real shame but the next three days here are going to be wet - unless you head East to Tahoe and then you'll be in deep, deep snow!!
Hope you enjoy the trip.

Yountville is the place to stay. Try the Maison Fleurie B and B. Good value and location.
