A few thoughts were posted earlier. Sounds like it is all but confirmed they will make an M2 "CS" with the S54. Will def be faster BUT may be limited, even if not will cost more and the added power might change the balance of power / handling for the worse. If you're in the market go for it. Can always trade if you like the other better.

that's supposed to be the M2 CSL. That edition/variant will likely have the S55 engine as rumored. the standard M2 will retain the N55

the S55 had issues with the crank hub spinning mostly in modded engines with high torque. Supposedly this is a new revision with that part staked so it can't be loosened.

Of all the things that an M2 needs the least is probably more power.

What the M2 needs is less turbo lag...

I like the m2 but when you can get a 8300rpm v8 in a Shelby mustang for the same money I just had to buy that instead.

Or the Camaro ZL1.

Yes, it's heavier, but the Chevy will outhandle (based on time) than the M2 in most circumstances.

There is speculation the MY2018 base M2 LCI will get the S55 as well. We'll know by June.

Surprised as I never liked turbo car but I don't think of my m2 as a car with turbo lag. Thought it was actually quite good in that area.

either way was out at Willow springs with it yesterday. Ran a 1:30:6 in it. Not too shabby on KW CS/RE71r

Three consecutive laps 1:30:6-1:30:8
gps speed are off as wsir has terrible reception but times are from transponder

Yeah this is a car that is greater than the sum of its parts....and there is almost no perceptible turbo lag. It's a car that would not have excited me much on paper but it really is a pleasure to drive.

I am running an M2 as DD and also agree there is very little lag. Lots of torque down low but as with modern turbo engines vs really good NA engines you don't get the high revs to a steep peak power figure, and the whereas the NA engine is still sharp off gas the turbo isn't.

Still its a fun car and easy DD with all the things you need at a good price point. Whats not to like?

I love my 2017 M2 with new revised I-Drive but may sell soon for a TTRS in June just to toy around and buy a M2 CS a when released.

The M2 is just a nice driver's car. I was so impress I got a E46 to remind myself how the original felt .

Can't wait for next week to see what Porsche may be releasing. May change my lineup.

Ok, so i've now had the car for a couple of weeks and been able to put a few hundred miles on it. so far i really love it! It fits my situation perfectly. great handling, solidly quick, comfortable, back seats an adult can fit into...my Cayenne GTS is getting very lonely. for $53k after a $2k USAA discount, it's a hell of a car for the money.

I prefer it to a mustang or camaro, i just couldn't see myself driving around in either of those, but agree they are performance bargains.
