Default Lightweight battery Info

Yes I used the search functions, but now since the factory Lithium isn't available the battery seems a very easy way to drop 25-30 lbs. Seems that and bypass easily nets 50-60 lbs off. Any firsthand experience with Braille or Volt? Any issues with the supposedly higher draw RWS in GT3/RS?

I have i48CE in 997RS' and 991GT3 for years. No Problem. One of the older batts was just rebuilt.
I will probably upgrade to the i48CS for 991RS.
Gary Savage at Braille provides great service!

Any reason why you're going with a diff model for RS? The CS looks like it is an additional 8 lbs also.

The CS could be over-kill. But it probably provides some extra cushion for the 991 electronics.
But, I Never had a problem/dash message/fault w/ in the 991GT3 w/ the CE, either.
Your call, the CE does the job, but the CS is the Best...but at a price/extra weight.

There was some talk that the lightweight battery was not offered for the GT3 due to the electrical demands of the RWS, so maybe a good idea to get the extra headroom of the larger model?

So the factory never ended up offering the Lithium Ion battery for the RS?

I just looked on the US configurator and didn't see that option...

I know some got it, but it has been gone for some time. The guys at Suncoast might have the most info on why it was yanked.

Pretty sure it was an option when I ordered both of my cars (GT3 and RS), although I also checked the configurator like Grant and didn't see it listed. Losing my mind...

EDIT: Just did a search and there are many threads about the 991 GT3 and RS with the lightweight battery. Here is one:

Probably just a supply issue. It was offered. Gone now.

I have had a Braille I48CX in my 2014 GT3 for two years and also in my 2016 GT3 RS for the last three months of this track season. Both cars get heavy track use. Completely satisfied.

Another vote for Braille. I have their i48 CS, which is the biggest (almost twice Ah) at 18 lbs. But still less than 1/2 OEM battery weight. I have a 991 50th so it's more street than track, and I want one with highest Ah due to all the electronics the car uses even in park. So far working ok (knock on wood). Make sure you get Braille's Li charger.

This thing is $$, but not as much as Porsche's OEM. (I think 2k vs. 3k?) You do save about 20 lbs off the top of the car.
