The optional Corsa tires on the GTS are not even true R-compound DOT track tires. The N1 Cup2 on the RS are much more serious (so one could extrapolate that the GTS might be as fast or faster than RS on equal tires).

Next GT3 (and GT cars thereafter) will have an even sticker DOT track tire from Michelin and Dunlop (maybe similar to the Cup2 tires on the AMG GT R that lapped in 7:10).

If GT3 tires sizes stay the same, then this will be an obvious upgrade for 991.1 GT3 owners (RS owners will have to wait for wider fronts and 21" version in rear, so may require release of a new RS to get that size).

Anyone see this article saying the 991.2 GTS is just 2 seconds slower than the 991.1 GT3RS around the ring (7:22) with the optional tires? Even if you aren't in to ring times that is some serious time and definitely throws a hiccup into GT performance targets. I also don't think the GTS' optional tires are as good as the ones on the RS.

The second article states that they predict the GT2RS to run at least a 7:05. I actually thought is would be faster.

Porsche's GT division definitely has to up their game with the mkII GT3 to keep the hierarchy in check.

that GT2 prototype looks amazing

the 991.1 GTS wasnt really a step up vs. the normal Carerra S - hardly a noticable difference
this time around the GTS is really a step up, noticably faster and better lap times - finally a GTS worthy of its badge

Sorry for my ignorance but do people expect the mkII GT3 to keep the 245/35/20 & 305/30/20 setup or get a wider setup (something similar to the RS)?

I would expect the same sizes (wheels look identical in spy shots - was/am really hoping for a 5-lug option).

RS sizes would require changes to the bodywork (RS tires don't really fit that well under RS's wider body)

Boy oh boy, haven't read this thread in 3 -4 days. Can't believe how much bickering I missed. Hopefully we're all over it and let's stay focused on what's important....the future, not the past. Remember, the past is history, can't be changed, let's just move on and get excited about the "next one".

Well said Bronson!

And if I may add : and this is my personal opinion,no " official numbers " involved here...but this GT3 is the most anticipated gen since it's introduction in the 996 body. The demand has tripled but so will the production numbers.
The expected more reliable engine will offer peace of mind for those on the sidelines and most importantly, having a transmission choice is a PREMIERE in this market.
I know there are many here who have owned all previous gen,or at least the 997,but there are also quite a few who've started their GT adventure with the 991 : the 997's manual transmission was the best at the time and it still remains a special car to this day. But I can tell you with full confidence that the pkg of a manual transmission and this fast/high revving 9A1 derived engine will be EPIC! You owe it to yourself to try one, that's all I'm going to say!

Hoping for an allocation of the GT2RS. It looks killer. Have my deposit down for over a year now. There is a concern over price. Hoping MSRP will be around $250K. I know others saying likely over $300K.

If they make more (don't know what "more" really means) except that beyond last 997GT2RS economies of scale would seem to indicate lower prices. Also will first round allocatoins for the 918 guys again? Will production be large or small, however you want to define that?? Lots of questions on this car too.

Again, tough call will be whether to give up the 991GT3RS. Can only wait to see what jells in order to make that call.

Again, I don't think the real issue is whether there will be another GT3RS but when and what form will it take. Will it be .2 or 992? Will it be mid engined like current RSR or current rear engine configuration? Will it be tt or some hybrid adder? Will production be large or small? Will first round allocations be reserved for 918 guys again? Hmmm. Alot to wonder about.

I think the power decrease from 700hp will mean better price - I think it will be way under $300k.

Is that before or after the 35% import tax?
