Center lock help needed
Just finished removing my wheels to have new tires put on and got 3 of them put back on and torqued with no problem. The last on (front) will torque OK but I cannot get the spring loaded safety nut (?) to pop back out all the way flush with the spline. I had 2 of the others do this also but just torqued a bit tighter and they popped out all the way flush.
I removed and reinstalled the wheels with the car off the ground, cleaned and put new grease on per the manual and threads I've read here. Using the Precision Instruments torque wrench.
What am I doing wrong?

I use a 6" Husky 1/2" ratchet extension to insert into the safety nut and wiggle it quickly CW/CCW and the nut pops right out. You can also use a needle nose plier and open up the plier end to press against the safety nut while wiggling it CW/CCW. Sometimes the nut will pop out it you just push it in and let it opt out several times. Hope this helps.

Tried pushing it in with my finger and letting it pop out several times but still about 1/4-3/8" shy of being flush. I'll give the extension a try thanks!

You have to wiggle it. There's a little plastic tool that's included that can also be used. It's stored with the center lock socket. But I used to use the extension on my 997.2 all the time.

With the wheel off you can remove the locking mechanism by just turning it and pulling straight out. You may want to check it for damage if you can't get it to seat properly and pop all the way out. Does it feel spring loaded? Is your wheel seated properly and tight up against the hub?

If you re expecting the locking mech to pop all the way out you may not get there. It should have good spring action moving back and forth. If it sticks anywhere you have an issue.

Yes it springs in and freely just doesn't come out far enough to be flush like the other wheels. I don't have a 1/2" extension but I try the tool I thought it was just for prying off the hub cap.

OK all fixed. I removed the bolt and wheel, touched up the grease and trial fitted the bolt (hand tight) to see if the lock would pop out which it did but only when the splines lined up which makes sense.
Reinstalled the wheel and bolt torqued it, loosened then re-torqued then had to give it just a bit more twist and it popped out.
Did I mention that I now also don't like CL's?

The wiggle/jiggle is the only way...wait till you've driven it a while and you're breaking out the mallet to bat the CL locking mechanism in because it locked up so you can remove the wheels...that's when you've arrived.
