Sitting around the breakfast table with fellow rennlister Haku this morning the topic came up that he should have gone with the painted key on his 1 day old RS. As a good friend I happily popped the lava sides off my second key and gave them to him. The joy on his face is worth $182.50. Half the price of the painted key option

One thing led to another and I have been messing around with 3m di-noc lately. So out came the heat gun, vinyl and exacto knife and this is what I'm left with in replacement of my spare lava key which is a wrap of the black OEM sides. I have some improvements to make in v2 but we were both quite proud of how this 5 minute job came out.

Doubt my wife will miss her RS key anyways, she's terrified of the machine!

Really nice gesture. How many key shells do you think you'll get in the mail next week?

Sean- you are an amazing person and even better FRIEND. Sharing this amazing and fortunate time with all the good people here. LOVE it! Though, how I would love to live closer to you and Mayur!

We finally made it home a couple of hours ago. I'm wiped out but before catching zzzz's I should say that Sean's lava key covers are now nicely protected by a layer of clear film. They look stunning. What a friend, thank you for your generosity!

More tomorrow.

I have now recovered and have had to pinch myself that theres an RS in my garage!

Sean's lava covers (forged by Vulcan himself) are on loan to me and I am convinced contain some magical power that will enhance my driving skills!

I asked Derek and Justin of Atlanta Protective Films, who by the way have done a fantastic job on my car, to see what they could do to protect the lava covers. After much deliberation of what product to use, we settled on Suntek. The operation began. Justin was chief surgeon...

The result...

Vulcan in his lava castle will be pleased!

Just FYI guys, if you ever want replacements these are on eBay for like $5, no one should be without color-matched keys. I bought some really nice carbon and gt silver ones and they look and fit exactly like OEM.

But then you don't get the joy and therapy of wrapping it yourself

Mayur and I had lunch with a friend of yours on Friday- Tyler in Atlanta. Small world!
