Default Xpel saved the day

Took a ride down I-95 last week. It was just about dark and something hit my hood with a good thump.

Upon inspection, it left 2 dings - one larger than the other. No doubt it would have damaged the paint.

Hit a local dent repair guy and it's as good as new. Well worth it already.

Wish I had the stuff on my first 996 which required a paint job on its hood after one week of ownership.

Nice to see it worked for you in this situation.

Had a similar occurrence. Took a baseball-sized stone grenade (that's what it sounded like) to driver's side lower rear hip flare. Was sure of a huge dent plus paint damage. Upon inspection, turned out to be a slight tear in the Xpel, but no body or paint damage. Money well spent.

Something fell off a passing truck when I was out on a rural highway this past weekend, and hit my driver's side lower bumper. I knew it was going to leave a mark, but the car is fully protected. Left a decent 3 inch long gouge in my front splitter (don't really care) and took a piece of the clear bra clean off. Never seen that before, but I know it would have taken the paint clean off the bumper. Paint underneath is perfect, and no other damage. I got lucky, and the clear bra saved my paint.

Well worth the expense so the number of 'stories' is minimized... Drive a car on the road and there is always risk and knowing there is some type of protection helps minimize (not negate) some stress. Having clearplex on the windshield helps as well with that protection.

My 997 RS is 50% covered, 991 GT3 is 80%, and the 991 RS is 100%.

Wow, that is great! Do you recommend for older cars as well?

Absolutely! I just replaced the XPEL on my 997 RS. After almost 10 years, it had some battle scars from the track. Removed it and the paint under it was perfect. Replaced with more coverage and the car looks great. If you have road rash already, XPEL won't fix it, but may keep it from getting worse.

The 997 RS didn't have XPEL on the rear fenders and there is a bunch of track patina there.

Has saved me numerous times on track at Texas World Speedway and MSR Houston. Now.....if I can just figure out a way to keep the sugar outta my gas tank......we all must pay our "fair share" to others....I guess. 😎

Ha!

The truth is that whenever I look at the road rash on those hips, I just reminds me of how much fun it is to drive the car on the track. It doesn't bother me one bit, really. If it did, I'd have it repainted.

I wasn't the first owner and it already had some 'experience'. All my new cars have their hips protected - some twice, just to be sure (stock stone guard on top of XPEL).
