Denver, Colorado Cruise - Saturday, August 20th
Since there is interest in a cruise on Saturday, August 20th we will make that the first date. If you can have a 2-way radio for the drive that would be helpful.
Okay here's the plan....
8:00 AM: Meet for breakfast at Country Road Cafe in Evergreen
If you haven't been there they serve a mean breakfast, and the portions are big. It's a popular spot, so if you plan on having breakfast I would be there closer to 8 AM, if possible. If you just want to come along for the drive, be there anytime before 9:30 AM. This is going to be the major food stop, mainly because I think it would be cool to chat a bit before setting off on the drive.
Note: You might want to come to the cafe from Bandimere Speedway (off the 470 and Morrison Road), and head up Morrison Road to highway 74 towards Evergreen. Just be aware that Morrison police use Laser, and they take revenue raising seriously. But there are some good roads that way leading to the Country Road Cafe. Nice way to start the trip!
9:30 AM: Start the cruise
Some highlights...
- Downtown Evergreen
- Evergreen Lake
- Echo Lake (brief stop)
- Nederland (stop for snacks/refreshments)
- Boulder (move-in week, so best not to stop there)
- Down the 93 towards Golden
- Brief stop at Starbucks in Golden
- Tunnel Runs through Clear Creek Canyon Park (via the 6)
- Wrap up at El Rancho Colorado in Evergreen for snacks/refreshments
The trip is about 4 hours of driving time, or about 140 miles. The plan is to stop about every hour.
A photo of the map is attached. Let me know what you guys think. Also included is the link.

Makes me wish I was living back in Conifer. Well not exactly Conifer, but nearby for the drive!! I bet hwy 285 is a blast in a 911 go in the backdoor to Breckenridge. Cut through some canyons on I-70 heading towards Golden.
