Default Road Trip - route advice

I'm planning a long road trip next month in the GT3 and deciding on two different routes. Wondering if you guys could help. Should I drive up California (LA) through Oregon to Washington or drive up Nevada (LV) through Idaho to Washington.

Anyone have experience with either route with feedback on safety, road conditions or scenic drive?

Thanks!

I would bet you would be hard pressed to find a better route in the country than that of Highway 1 from LA to Oregon. Can't even compare based on your two options.

City's to enjoy
Santa Barbara
Cambria
Harmony
Pismo Beach
San Simeon (Hurst Castle)
Morro Bay
17 mile drive
Monterey Bay (aquarium)
Nappa Valley
San Fran
Redwood Forest
And many many more.

Maybe do both? Do one route going north and the other going south.

Coastal route for sure. The other way and you are driving through desolate desert!

Thanks for the suggestions and the list of places to stop at. Think I will go with california coast. Cant do both routes as this is a one way trip...moving up north.

Have a blast! I am planning something similar, and will be including PCH as well.

I made it! Completed the 3000 mile drive and have to say the california coast was amazing. Beautiful views and nice winding road. The GT3 was brilliant all the way!

Here's my favourite view:
