Yeah the lightest wheels for the RS! And gives the car a more "motorsport" look...

I have the FI-Rs. It is hard to imagine being unhappy with them. If the $18K is acceptable for the magnesium weight savings, then why not? I am guessing Carbon Revolution hasn't yet produced something in RS size, as it should be lighter but is unlikely to look as nice.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this... Yeah it's very hard to accept the price tag of the magnesium wheels, especially with only 8lbs. difference! But hey look on the bright side, it's way way cheaper than the Weissach magnesium wheels! It's practically the same! Haha

I had magnesium 964 RS wheels and ever again. It gets brittle with age, internal fractures and very hard to weld/repair. Unless this is a show pony I'd recommend the BBS and put the savings into rubber, pads and rotors. That's assuming she is a working girl...,

Oh really? That's bad... Didn't know that magnesium gets so brittle in time. I'm not so sure about the design of the FI-R, looks really big. Maybe bec of the thin spokes. Looks more over wheeled than the stock for me. The RSR wheels looks smaller in a way. But of course like you said the material might be an issue over time and potholes for street use might not be a good idea. I'll ask Team Manthey racing about this...

Stock looks the best and you've already paid for them.

WEC RSR magnesium, i believe is manthey product? if so, that's made by BBS

but as macca said, magnesium is super light but not worth the trouble on street car.

I don't think there will be any trouble with these RSR BBS magnesium wheels on street use, since it's also the same material and technology used for the wheels of the 918 Weissach Package. Most of them are running on street and also at the track, haven't heard any issues at all according to Manthey racing... unless it's too early to say since it's still relatively new. Oh well!

Thumbs up

IMHO BBS WEC is the best looking wheel that matchs RS!

I don't like the look and finish of edges on the WEC wheels. They don't look like $18k wheels to me. Maybe because no concave... not sure. Just not for me visually.
FI-R is a much better look IMO
I ordered HRE R101 Lightweight's because I get really good deals on HREs (much better than retail on the FI-Rs) and have always been an HRE fan -- I think their finish quality is second to none. They weigh 83.8 LBs.

My wheels should be here in a week or two but here is the mockup they/WB did for me:

If you want the RSR race wheel look you always use the BBS Motorsports wheel pattern! They are not as fancy in terms of finish work as HRE etc. but the is no denying the quality or weight of the wheel. Not sure why everybody keeps forgetting there is also a standard forged non mag version of the WEC wheel at a much lower price. They belong on all white RS's. Although someone needs to confirm size availability. I was looking at 19" in my standard GT3..

I can't wait for this to go from digital rendering to physical high resolution photos
