Default G6 oil filter

Picking up the Kit to change oil on a .’15 GT3. Original engine was an F0, now has a G6. There’s some confusion if it’s the same oil filter and I’m away from home and not able to look under the car.

I think I recall reading here somewhere that the G6 used the 2016 RS oil filter. At the dealer parts counter we looked at the OEM and RS filter side by side and the only difference seems to be the internal thread diameter is larger on the RS. External dimensions are the same.

This is the filter you need, from the RS. This came off my G6 on its first oil change.

I believe 9A1.107.203.91 has been superseded by OPB-115-351.

This was the part number on my last invoice when getting an oil filter for my G6 motor. And yes, you are correct the internal thread diameter is larger.

That’s good beta, thanks. The dealer said buy both and return one, glad I picked up the RS version.

They had no idea the G6 was so different from the OEM E0, F0 and G0 .1 engines.

Interesting I was just going to post this as a warning. I took my G6 in for an oil change after a 1000 mile break in. The tech warned me that when he went to install the oil filter it did not fit. He gave me the new part # since he knows I like to change my own oil. The part # was 0PB-115-351. He mentioned it is the one used on the 4.0 motor.

Good stuff, I wasn't aware it was a superseded part recently! I'm about to do another oil change too, thanks for the update.

Yes the one spec’d for the RS 4.0 is 0PB-115-351, so same as the G6. It’s been said here the G6 is but an RS destroked to 3.8. Sometimes i wonder if they even destroked it.

Going to Sebring in a couple of weeks with the new engine. I'll let you know if my times improve...

They are not different from the G0. My most recent filter invoice is 91-107-203-91. I can't comment on an updated part as I last changed my oil in 11/21. I believe all G engines are on the RS design with a modified B&S. When ordering from Suncoast, there was always different kt for the 2016, which came with the G0 engine new.
