How did you check that? I wanna see how much I am hitting on my GT3

on anothe hand 8600 is short of the advertised 8800.

Can you increase your sampling rate? You could be missing a higher rpm if it's sampling to slow. Or are you slowly running the car up to 8800 rpm?

Jacob. Thanks for following through with this. Its long been my suspicion after a PAg employee passed comment that the RS was limited to 8600 rpm in auto mode and I went trying to find online footage of the car exceeding this in manual mode. I was told the changes were made very late. My questioning was "why does the tacho show orange dashes from 8400 rpm going solid at 8800?".

However, I would suggest perhaps in some gears the cars ECU is programmed to allow a slightly higher shifting (i.e. #4/#5/#6). I guess only an experiment will tell although you may have tested this also?

Shashano. The 991 GT3 will shift at just a handful of revs before 9000 using the Solo DL on the track in auto mode I have recorded in all gears #2/#3/#4/#5 but I have not tested in #6 or #7 myself at redline as our track permits no faster than 235kmph in the GT3...

Makes sense to lower RPM in lower gears with such short gearing you need a Micky Mouse track or autocross to want more revs before breaking points. Most torque is below 8600 anyway.

Now it makes sense... Come on! What about when they've introduced the 991 GT3 and the only thing AP kept blabbing about was the sound the engine made in the last 500 RPM.
I guess now that the best sound in the RS is between 8100 and 8600 RPM.

No... if this thing would rev to 8800 RPM, the engine would put out more power and the car would accelerate faster.

Looking at torque output is misleading, because you need to multiple it by the gear ratios to get to actual wheel torque (or road force). As soon as you shift, you drop the wheel torque by a HUGE multiplier...

That's why it's easier to just look at power. If your power at the RPM before you shift is higher than the power at the RPM after the shift, then you'll wish you had more revs to go...

I mostly end up short shifting my 4.0 and it was a bit faster according to data.
Revs for me are to not hit the limiter to up and again downshift within seconds.

Anyone has the Dyno sheet of an RS?

Time to roll out the AP RS "emotion" video with the tach swinging to 8800

Peak HP @ 8250; power curve starts to fall off above.

But the RS "emotion" video was made using the old 9000 rpm tacho before they revised the engine management :-p

Rev limit is 8800 in first, 8700 in second, 8600 in third. I posted a video showing this several weeks ago linked here again. I took screen shots at one point showing it hitting 88, 87, 86 but you can see it in the video:
