Default Ipanema Blue or Racing Yellow on RS spec?

Have an allocation, spec tomorrow.

I know racing yellow will be outstanding.

Buy Ipanema Blue.... Crazy or Cool?

Either are good choices, Ipanema would be more unique among 991s generally, but I'm a huge fan of RY on my 991 GT3 and think the RS would look great in it.

If the list is limited to 10-20 colors as currently rumored, I would expect RY to be more likely to be included.

Both are great colors though neither would be my top choice if I were PTSing an RS. Since RY was a popular color on the 1GT3, I would go Ipanema Blue. Even if IB makes the reportedly limited RS PTS list, I doubt many will choose it. Nice to have a rarer/more exclusive color in my opinion.

Go for the blue. I got the call today. Where in the configurator can I find the PTS colors?

Thanks.

They won't be in the configurator. They will be on a separate PTS-approved list, which I don't think is out yet.

Can't find them online. The most recent PDF of color descriptions is posted in another recent 991 RS thread about who has an allocation.

Which do YOU like better? The whole purpose of PTS is to get the color that you like and not thrust upon you. Don't worry about if other people will have it. I'd rather have a color that I like better and it be a bit slightly less rare. Realistically, you're getting a car that there may be 1500 made world wide, of those let's say 1,000 (I think this is an optimistic number) make it to the US, and you being in North Carolina, I'm going to say less than 75 make it into your state, how many do you really think are going to be the same color in PTS. Most will be Lava, second will be White, 3rd will be GT Silver and then the remaining ones may be PTS. The chances of you running into another one of the same color even if you had the most popular color will be far and few between. As I always say, don't confuse rare with desirable. I've seen a Pink Lamborghini before, I'm sure that's quite rare, but like I said, it's not desirable. Get the color that you like most. That being said, you asked for our opinions, so here's mine. They're both nice looking colors. I'm not a big fan of most Metallic colors personally and really don't think they fit the look of the RS (I may feel differently if I saw one in person), so between those two, I'd go with Racing Yellow. But personally, if it were mine, I'd go Voodoo Blue, Mexico or Riviera Blue.

I think the PDF provided by GreenLantern is of the PTS-approved list for Pcars in general, but some RLers are reporting the PTS-approved list for the RS will be a much more limited list. It's this RS-specific, more limited list that I do not think is out yet.

Thanks. Now I have to deal with the "paradox of choice".

You are 'Crazy', but then I bet you knew that already. You will not be able to spec either tomorrow, so who are you kidding. But when you finally get a chance at PTS, I would tell you to skip both of these colors and stick with a vintage/historic early 911 color so that you could join our exclusive 'Rennlist Vintage PTS Group'. We meet once a month at the Moose Lodge in Salinas, CA.

'Racing Yellow' is well known so no need to provide anyone with a photo. But 'Ipanema Blue Metallic', color code 3S2, is a rather odd offering for only one year -MY2012 color on the last of the .2 997 - and it wasn't very popular then. But since you are 'crazy', it might fit you to a T.

But it's your car & your money...do as you please!

Saludos,
Eduardo
Carmel

Y'all are killing me and my Ipanema dreams. :-)

I did get an allocation for nov build and do have a meeting set for tomorrow to spec and order. But to your point Eduardo not sure about PTS timing.

I was also thinking gulf blue which is historic and on the broader PTS list plus it was on famous 917 in 70 when I was born...

But for a real crazy option. Nordic Gold!!
