So are you going to get a trailer? I've heard of both SPB and spec911 driving to the race.
Havent thought that far ahead yet.

RACING aha....
the cliff is slippery

i drove BSR to TH, LS and even BW to race, win and drive back.
i even drove it to work with suit and ties on. no i am not kidding

many ppl say buy someone else's race car.
frankly there are only a handful of already built race cars i would buy and they are $$$$$$$$$$$
$180,000 spec 911
$60,000 BSR
most racers are just poorly built, and that's including some very big name shops.

joe, resistance if futile ;-0)

It is overwhelming at first. But, seeing your speed and how often you drive, racing, or a dedicated race car, may emerge as the simpler solution. It's a lot to put a street car through your pace/frequency as I'm sure you well know.

Yes, but it seems like people with race cars are always having to wrench on something, whereas with a street GT car, all I'm doing is changing brake pads and tires. Drive up and drive home.

This setup works really well, IMO.

Wow. A blast just watching the video. Nicely done.

Nice lap. 1.56x on R compound would be an achievement!

R7s for an easy 1-2 secs though (why work so hard )...you know you want to, all the cool kids are doing it.

Yes, you can wrench yourself into oblivion, so I don't recommend it. My costs per day include full support. We do arrive and drive here at PIR, car is stored at our CSR, Flat Out. Maintenance between races is done in the shop- maybe around $1000 between races and around $3K annual (shock rebuilds, etc). So no trailer needed. Show up in your street Porsche and drive.

My last piece of advice- Just know yourself- if you are highly competitive and are chasing lap times at a DE then maybe racing is a better choice for you. In the end at a DE, working on your personal best is only so satisfying, "wining the DE" is an exercise in money and frustration (you don't know what cheater parts they have) and the playing field is never level. On the other hand tracking and enjoying your Porsche may tick all your boxes, lap times be damned and enjoying the camaraderie of your track friends is part of the fun. Frankly, I miss that part but not enough to stop racing and of course I've made new racing friends, and still have my track buddies!

Good luck on the journey!

Thanks, man. I think I might have touched 1:56 if I didn't screw up t9 and was more confident with the throttle at t14/15.

No cheater tires for me! Yet! Lol!

Thanks. You make a good point. I feel like I am straddling a fine line between de and race mentality, which is why I have started to consider racing. I know I want to try it. Just a matter of timing and money right now.

If I can throw my 2 cents into the competition racing discussion...spec miata. The running costs are outrageously low from what I can tell....as long as you don't buy a new set of tires every weekend. Oh, and as long as you have a tow vehicle. And a place to store it :O Yeah, it does seem to add up. But at the risk of sounding bourgeois the car is almost disposable if you don't buy a new one.

Nice lap. Think you need some nomex driving that close to the limit!
