Default Another bad thermostat?

Had the warning light reading fault coolant temp followed by the yellow engine fault warning light come on today. The cooling fan ran continuously, so seemed like another bad thermostat stuck in the "open" position.
I had a bad thermostat on the old engine AND the new engine. If it is the thermostat, this will be number 3. Getting a little old.
Took it in for this, have the brakes looked at and file the warranty claim on the wheel chips.
This is my fifth Porsche, I never had these issues on the others. Is this common for the GT3? Any body have more than one bad thermostat?

How many miles do most of you have before this problem starts or is it something that happens shortly after leaving the dealership.
thanks

Can we get years on these cars too--all '15's (OP looks like a '14)?

Mine is a 2014. Build date 12-5-2013. Had the first thermostat replaced on the original engine with only 400 mile. Engine replaced and 2nd thermostat replaced in October with 2500 miles on new engine. I have 7,000 now with the new issues. Will see what the error codes are on Monday.

Weird to have it happen more than once in a brief period. Hopefully an easy fix, for good this time.

My SA informed me I need another thermostat AND housing. The housing for some reason is deformed and may have impinged on the thermostat causing it to be stuck in the open position. The housing needs to come from Germany, so 5-7 days for the part to show up.
Anyone else have this happen?

Do you know if the bad thermostat which you have replaced is the actual engine cooling thermostat or a separate one which may be in place between the transmission oil-to-water heat exchanger and it's water line. I had that problem multiple times on my 997.2 RS and for the last year there has been a service bulletin out on it. I know the engine is completely different but perhaps the ancillary parts are the same. My 997 RS threw the same codes Mooty references. Mine was finally fixed permanently (I believe) when the latest style thermostat with the new vacuum diaphragm was installed.

Good luck.

It's the water line thermostat, in fact the water line is one of the parts. Hopefully it will be fixed with replacing those other parts.
Thanks!

Good luck, hope it is the last time to the dealer for this. I'll watch mine closely when I finally pick it up next week. BTW, love your graphic, was considering something similar on my GT Silver-should never show up at the same event since we are on opposite coasts if no objection.

BigT,

No objection at all, go for it. KI Studios here in San Diego can fix you up. Mine is Stripe Kit #8.
