Front Plates
Not that I'm actually contemplating having holes drilled in my front bumper when I take delivery at the end of March, but I was wondering how many Ontario drivers have actually put them on (using the standard method or using the tow hook) to avoid being stopped constantly by law enforcement officials looking for an easy ticket. Almost makes one want to live in Quebec!

buy the tow hook bracket and keep it in your trunk brand new unopened in the box. 1st time you get pulled over for it show the cop what you "literally just got in the mail" and was looking for time to install it.
he should let you go.
if it happens too often just open the box and actually use the thing.

I was going to bend a piece of sheet metal in a L. Attach plate and drill two holes. The use self taper into black plastic of the underside of the lip. It can be taken on and off. Should work. I'll post pic once I make it.

I've only had one ticket for not having a front plate and that was in 84. I still had the oval euro plate on the car from euro delivery. I had the front plate in the passenger footwell and showed it to the deputy, no go. I even went to court on it and still lost.

When I got my Vette in 2003 I got two fix-it tickets within a week in LA. That, however, was the heyday of the camera ticket era, and I have the feeling they were enforcing the front plate rule strictly for that reason. Anyone have recent experience in LA area?

My SA has been instructed to tape a sign on the front bumper: 'Do not drill or attach front plate!'
Keep a tow hook or platypus in the front passenger footwell and tell the officer you just got off the highway and were just about to put it back on. Tell him it flutters at highway speed and could damage your paint.

Here is a very easy, simple and inexpensive answer to your idea. It can be retracted and displayed at will. I believe you can find an electricity activated one as well:

Unfortunately in Mass a no front plate ticket, while only a couple of bucks, is 2 points on your license and could cost thousands over the course of 7 years it takes to drop off....
