I cant help myself but I gotta defend the California............sure it no 430,458 or GT3..................but if you ever got a chance to drive one a California for a while..............it is wonderful and fast and sounds great.

Its an great alternative for a Jaguar convertible, 991 cabriolet, 991 Targa, Mercedes E class cabriolet, Audi cabs, M6 cabriolet and Bentley GTC...............its fast fun and the interior is world class. Not much trunk space.

Now the Ferrari FF...........that's fugly..............

These cars were all $225K and up..............in 5 years these will be $100 to $125 and for a very fast soft-top hardtop cruiser.................some Ferrari guys like the daily driveability.

But the real nature of this post is that all major manufacturers are going to Turbocharging as you get reliability, massive power, better gas mileage .

There is a horsepower war going on between Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Corvette, McLaren and Ferrari and its seem apparent that they feel Twin Turbos are the way to go to make big power efficiently. As gung-ho enthusiasts we are all along for the ride.

Joe,I always appreciate your informative posts. You obviously know what you're talking about having driven so many Ferraris. I've never driven one so I can't comment about how it feels. I'll be in Vegas this weekend and hoping to experience the Scuderia on the track.
Regarding Turbos in a Ferrari,I can only say it doesn't sound great according to this video. I'm sure that can be improved once you start tinkering with the exhaust.

I mean in straight line acceleration and usability. The Turbo S is an amazing machine for the price, The numbers are nuts on the car. Didn't mean to offend any Ferrari Fan boys

I've said it before. I would pick the California over the 911 turbo S Cab.

Neither are the car for me, as I would prefer a GT3 or a 458, as I want a proper sports car.

But for that kind of car, a top-down, daily driver, GT sports car, with a turbo engine, the California wins out. It looks better and sounds better than the 911 turbo Cab, and only costs $8,000 more than the 911 turbo S cab.

A car that you would more likely see in front of a nail salon on a Saturday afternoon than in a track or nice road (at least here in SoCal). That's OK, but for $250K....

I'm a totally Porsche guy. Totally...no question. But, I would take a new CaliforniaT over a TurboS cab in a heartbeat. Just for the hardtop alone because I think a soft top 911 is fugly. However, I wouldn't buy either... I'd get a TTS coupe.

It's a matter of taste. Although not my cup of tea the California T is not a bad car. But it's the low end Ferrari. It's like when you buy a boxter or cayman base. You always wish it was an S. If you had an S you wish it was a Carrera....and so on. A California shouldn't be even a discussion on GT3 forum. Totally different bread.
